Was at the B2Net yesterday and looking at it from the Bury fans point of view, this must have been the away day of their dreams. Backed by 2000 noisy fans, a win against their closest rivals (and pooping on our party), a good performance, winning promotion and putting them in with a good chance of winning the title. All on a nice sunny day in a packed stadium - the stuff of dreams!! When you support lower league teams like Bury or the Spireites, days like that don't come along very often - so Good Luck to the Bury fans who made the journey - a day they will probably remember for the rest of their lives. Having supported the Town for about 40 years, I can't think of any away days that quite match up to that. The Anglo-Scottish Cup final is probably the closest I can think of that I attended. I was at Old Trafford and at the Bury play-off at Wembley, but they are a bit different as they were on neutral grounds. Anybody think of any other dream awaydays for the Spireites?

Liverpool for the 4-4 draw was a good one.

I guess the Kevin Davies hat-trick at Bolton in the cup run was another good one (I wasn't there) but I don't think they match what Bury had yesterday

I was at a 3-3 draw there in the 80's when Geoff Salmons equalised in the last minute!

that was the best, but winning 3-1 at Bramall Lane Jan 89 when we were bottom and they were top runs it close

Others winning at Darlington 85 and clinching the championship at Peterborough, crap match but great occassion

This a very well balanced and thought out post there Mr Essexspireman, you are very right in what you say, teams like yours, mine and many others in the lower leagues don't get many days like this, both Clubs have had remarkable seasons, yours for always being at the top more or less all year, and ours after staring well, then having a bad run, getting back on track, then Mr Knill whoring himself about for every job going and finally leaving with 8 games to go,this in turn is what has made the team get on with this run of 6 straight wins.

I have watched my beloved Shakers for nigh on 37 years now, as an exiled Shaker I along with my 13 year old Son travelled the round trip of 280 miles on Monday, got back to my home in North Wales at 10-20pm, my Son along with me was chuffed to bits with the day, he has been going with me to games on and off for 5 years now, and we have seen plenty of dross, a few good games but he has had his heartache already, when we lost out on promotion by 1 goal against Wycombe, but for him to see his team have a day like that made him grin from ear to ear, and come next Saturday when we do the 300 mile round trip for the Wycombe home game, I shall meet up with my Father and 3 generations of us Shakers Fans will enjoy a pint and the Wycombe match come whatever the result.

There are many fans like us who follow many teams in the lower leagues, and why, because its where we come from and its in our hearts and in our blood.

So good luck to you Spireites for the rest of the season, and here is to proper football as it was on Monday, see you next season in League 1.

Just on the management situation, I sit pretty close to the dugouts at our place and I thought Richie Barker & Sodje were a credit to your Club on Monday.
