doubt we'll see him for a while think he came off worst in the crunching tackle.

think it was more than just the crunching tackle. 5min earlier he was holding his calves

to be honest i thought Gregor had a good game. but that my opinion

He did ok but thats not his position. He hesitated quite afew times with the ball at his feet. He is a leftback!

Note to Lomax, you are allowed to pass the ball to other players and not only Whittaker.

Really suprised at how slow we were getting forward today, thought we definetely missed Griffiths in that sense but we will have to make do. Sheridan said before the game we might have to settle for a few one nils, it was like we were playing for that almost, then had no answers when they got their 2 !

First time seeing a Chesterfield match in 22 years, so obviously lacking in 'previous' history and most of what I'd heard on here had impacted my views of the players...so here's my tuppence worth (and for those who are superstitious and see me a s a jinx...I'll stay away if it means promotion!!)
We started well, with Oxford lacking any desire to drive forward, and whilst never in top gear we were controlling the game and should have had a couple of goals extra...Jack hitting it wide when most of us were on our feet, and then Craig being slightly off target too.
However we lost our grip on the game as Oxford seemed to become more tactically aware, and we looked less able to adapt...for example, they played with one up front, so lacked attacking threat, but their wide right man Craddock, cut off the supply to Morris by marking space and making it really difficult for our players to hit Morris, despite being in space, as too short a pass and Craddock has it, too long and the extra man in midfield mops up. I thought we struggled to respond to the Oxford tactics, and so effectively allowed them to remain in the game. The passing became sloppy, and Oxford had a bit more bite to win the ball back, we didn't seem to be able to up the pace and dominate.
General impressions of players, Gregor looked much more composed than I'd have imagined from reports...thought he did ok, and looked more impressive than Ford, who I was really disappointed with. Our full backs, Hunt and Lomax, had more to offer in attack than in defence where they looked ropey...it seemed like we had no one to marshall the defence, the 2nd goal summing that up for me...should have been cleared.
Midfield we looked light...a number of times we had no shield at all, allowing their midfield to break at pace against us. Morris started well, but faded as he had little supply, Talbot worked hard and ran his socks off. Jack had a difficult game with the beast Futcher (30) literally standing over him, some beautiful passes, but we couldn't finish them off. Davies looked quality first half, worked hard, but gradually retreated and was wasted out wide.
Liked the fact Sheridan put guys on for win, but slightly confused why Page came on and Ford was pushed up front (hitting the bar from a few yards), surely Smalley out wide and Craig in the middle would have made more sense?
Overall, cracking time at the B2Net...shame about the result, some lovely football, faded badly, need a couple of leaders.

CB required in Jan! We need a battler/bosser in midfield - Mattis back there please! Why Gregor at CB? It wasn't fair on the lad - does it not trust Pagey that much??
Hunt had a shocker. But then, so did everybody after the first 15 minutes! We were cruising, then we just started dallying on the ball and allowed ourselves to be bullied - it was garbage.

we dont want mattis in midfield ,he is our best centre half by a mile,we need to buy a midfielder, somebody in the mould of graham kavanagh would be ideal

He is not a centre back.. he's played there, basically because needs-must. He's done a job there, as he's a good football player. Midfield is quite clearly his best position - you know, the one he's played his entire career.

I presume you talk of the man Mattis?

We need to get him back in midfield on tonight's showing. On the plus side him, Morgan and Niven's availability make the squad going to Bury look a hell of a lot better balanced.

Also I hope Griffiths is having the op he apparently needs now (on Peterborough's tab) so he returns fit.

Usually asking questions...think most of those posts came in the first year of Rico when there was pre-season joy at some signings...hindsight is a wonderful thing!

You'd better get out before the locals have to start selling their kidneys to buy bread.

For the next league game, we should have Mattis, Morgan and Niven back. That's three players from tonights team out of the team. Have faith. Tonight looked very makeshift.

IT looks as though the make up of our squad is being woefully high lighted by our current plight.

Craig Clay out on loan, he would give us some drive in the absence of Niven.
Matiss out with the flu.
Boden and Bowery having to be relied on when we haven't got the cushion of a good lead.
Breckin on maternity leave.
Still we await Lowry and Downes.
Niven suspension.

I doubt we will get anyone in on loan to play in an FA Cup tie, I hope for gods sake we can bring Clay in on saturday and Matiss has recovered enough. Will Smalley be allowed to play in cup.

We are beginning to look very thin on the ground and pace seems to be missing from our make up, without it you don't worry the opposition too much at the back and likewise when trying to recover our ground at the back.

It wasn't as though Oxford ran at us with the ball they just passed it round us and killed us.
God I hate this league.
