Some rather crucial files which control the board went missing.
I've restored them from a backup and everything seems fine (touch wood)
If anyone gets a problem, please, put it on here, PM me or mail me at mark<dot>denman<at>tesco<dot>net
obviously changing the <dots> for a . and the <at> for an @
Denny
Ps, if my management at work ever read this, this is how long a back up and restore should take, hours, not days!

Don't know if this will confuse things Denny, but I was able to use the board fine between the said hours.

Nah, that i can explain.
Most people got an error because a few files got deleted/moved/vaporised from the server, they were getting the latest results from the server and therefore getting an error (because the files weren't there), your ISP probably cached (saved) the original files, and gave you those rather looking for the real files, therefore you could carry on seeing things.
make sense?
if not, i can try again!

Makes perfect sense to me mate!
Could also have been everything being stored on our local server at work, so that it doesn't have to re-download everything every time. (Could explain that better, but I'm sure you'll get me!

(touch wood) this shouldn't happen again.
The site may slow down a bit later as i'll be taking a few extra backups!

I did for a while... Other than that it just came up as a blank screen with a written error on the top

Perhaps your system at work takes so long to restore because the staff are busy maintaining the CFC message board?

shhhh!
If only, I only get to request backups here, then some apeoid life-form in a different site is sent to lose the tape. which he invariably does, perfectly.
