You're the thinking type. You should talk to JD about Perkins at full back. We never ever doubled up on him because the entire team had the confidence that no attacker ever did him. He would walk into this team at left back.

Interesting new slant on Chris Perkins. We'll get into trouble for digging up old subjects, but as I recall he was a bit shaky to say the least, and only got by because there were so many other people helping out in defence. To be honest I used to wonder exactly what he was there for, though I did my best to look for the positives as I do with all players.
However, he seemed to be the first name on JD's team sheet, week in and week out, and JD was no fool - just the opposite - so he must have added something that I couldn't see. But when he finally got pushed out, imediately after Duncan's departure, he just dropped out of the game via a number of poor non-league sides, which for me confirmed my opinion of him.

I'll never understand why he didn't go out on loan when quite clearly there's no long term future for him under Sheridan, but at the same time in my opinion, he should have been in the starting 11 alongside Jack well before now.

I've been thinking about the situation and i wonder if JS wanted Gritts to be more aggresive. It's been said recently that they wanted him to be more hungry than he was at the start of the season and he clearly showed that in his reserve games, however i wonder if JS thought if he gets Gritton wound up about not being in the side that he'll be a better fighter and show even more hunger, i mean throughout Gritts career he's never really been a first team regular, even before we bought him he was in and out the team at Macca. MG did look a much better player in his brief spell in the first team, fitter, and very vocal.

I don't agree with when JS said Grtts should have been knocking his door down wanting to know why he's not getting picked. As i see it if someone is scoring plenty of goals in the reserves they should be given a chance in the first team - at least off the bench, but gritts chance only came into it when our options were limited, boden wasn't doing well enough and the crowd were pleading for Gritts to start. He's come into the team, scored a goal in his first start, not scored in his second start and no he's back to being a non playing sub again. I hope JS doesn't drop him from the bench again in the next week and he continues his score in the reserves and not get picked. If JS is going to bring a loan signing in to cover for Lester i can't imagine Gritts is going to get much of a look in again, and he's certainly not had enough opportunity so far.
