How are they repetetive, they change dance routines on each match, these girls study hard for their GCSE but still find time to practice for overe two hours a week. Dull i really dont understand, perhaps your looking in a mirror and ameaturish, well they have won awards for past 4 years, so unless you want to pay then perhaps you should just agree that they are very good at what they do seeing as though the FL have agreed that for the past 4 years !!!!

It’s commendable that they give up their free time to try and entertain the crowd and have supported the club outside of the match days, but I personally find them repetitive, dull and amateurish. I sincerely hope they do not appear at the new ground in the same capacity as they currently do.

Howard,

We cant even get kids and parents from Junior Football teams so how the hell can you coordinate Dancing Schools, perhaps you should look at the bigger picture here. I agree who would replace them and who would then go out in the community and represent the club?

We cant even run a Football in the Community correctly !!

Went to Donny a few weeks ago to watch them play Peterborough and they used to have cheerleaders but decided against it for this season.

Their view was it is too restrictive. At several games early on in the season they did have dancers but from several different dance schools (who obviously all brought mums and dads along) and for Halloween thay got people to come in Halloween costumes and gave prizes to the best dressed and free fairground rides outside for the kids.

The trouble with stopping the Spirettes would be "What to replace them with ?". To do something different would require resource to plan and organise whereas the Spirettes organise themselves.

maybe an idea would be to negotiate say half a dozen Spirette free fixtures where we try a few new ideas ?

Howard

a few

itsc - you're not exactly going to offer an objective view are you?

You're taking it too personally. No one has anything against them - they just don't go hand in hand with a professional football club and proper 'matchday entertainment'. Well done to the girls on the vast achievements and no doubt they do work hard although they have probably won competitions because the competition is so thin as other club's realise it's just not the way forward - just to play devil's advocate like.

Lets step back here a second MurrayBu

Perhaps for you dozen or so, it may mean nothing, but lets see at next home game the applause ???

Again yes you would get if further up the Football League, reminder we are the BEST throughout the Football League, o yep you forgot that it does happen in Championship Teams and not just league 2

In fact they were invited to go to Manchester City this year, but due to clashing with CFC and Steelers then declined the offer
So what does that tell You ??????????

The Spirettes are only good for people who have ties to them so they can watch them performing on a football pitch in front of thousands of fans. For others, it means nothing.

As I say, it's the old fashioned mentality of the club that promotes this kind of thing and it's amateurish too. Would you get it further up the league's? No. Not like we do it. I thought that if we're moving into a new 'professional' stadium, everything else associated with the club should be professional too.

I agree Skywalker

It would be nice to have a professional announcer who has a clear voice and is smartly dressed (Rotherham away).

I always open to offers Murraybu

Not taking anything personally, just being realistic and stating facts. How the hell do you know, have you looked at any other professional club cheerleading, me thinks not, and yes they do go with match enterainment, again confirm how you know that competition is thin on the ground?

I dont think anyone is knocking the efforts of the girls here.

I appreciate what they do and the support they give the club, the fact they have the guts to perform in front of 3000/4000 people, it cant be easy. Good on em, and good luck to em.

However we are moving to a new ground with a whole host of new opportunities, and I believe if we are to have pre and half time entertainment, then it should be professional entertainment.

I would like to think that the CFSS community stuff can still provide these kids with facilities and maintain a community link, but that is up to them to prove `the clubs the hub` is more than a slogan and make proper use of these facilities, hell if done right, these kids could use it as a stepping stone to become pro dancers.
A new hope.

Murray i don't know your name but you started this thread and it seems a bit personal to me,the ground starts to fill up,well at Saltergate its a trickle then the boozers rush in and some may miss a goal, meanwhile the Spirettes have done there routine then run over to great the players out, then half time arrives announcements are made, awards if there are any are done,50/50 tickets are announced and we eagerly await the winners so we can announce those,bl@@dy hell im out of breath now lol, lets hear what you would do.......

I think Murrays view is from seeing the razzamataz at Rugby League games. Vast comparisons to that seen at all footie grounds I've visited. Pre match and half time entertainment by X Factor / Britains got talent personnel. All sorts of initiatives but including the dancing girls. Am I right Murray.
God I hate this league.

In fairness I think Her Majesty's Christmas address would be almost inaudible on Towns current PA system.

Doubtless she would be smartly dressed though

The suits at Millers are part of the corporate set up where they mingle with sponsors etc pre match. Maybe it will all go up a gear at b2net but don't forget a suit isn't just the answer. One of the chuckle bros does a lot of pre match stuff in a suit, could it have been him.

I was referring to the main announcer. The one who annoyingly said "Goal machine Adam Le Fondre"
