From Derbyshire Times

Police have arrested two men in connection with a machete attack on a teenage footballer.

A spokesman said the pair were being questioned today (Friday) about the assault of James Drabble (18) at his home on Hipley Close, Holme Hall, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

James, who was looking forward to an U21s trial with Chesterfield FC, had his right knee slashed open with a machete in the attack by two assailants wearing Halloween masks.

The teenager was woken by knocking at his door around 4am before being pulled into a communal corridor where the attack took place.

Medical experts have told James he may never play football again.

I don't know the lad, I don't know if he's been in any trouble, it's a sh1thole where he lives, but does he really deserve this treatment?

The idiots who did this are an example of everything that is wrong in this world - lets hope they get caught & dealt with appropriately.

Correct.

I wonder though, what made this fella appear on the radar of such an obvious organised criminal attack.
A new hope.

You only have to look at someone these days to offend, envy can be another catalyst to provoke stupid responses. It seems to me that they went to an awful lot of trouble 'For no apparent cause'.
It will all come out in the press if these 2 guys are the ones responsible, nothing surprises me these days, it's the reckless use of weapons that is the big worry. We get more like the US every day.
God I hate this league.

well i'm sure he regrets opening the door now if that makes you feel any more pompous?
maybe he did know who it was, whatever the details there is a young lad who has suffered a horrendous and potentially life changing attack, think on before offering your opinions you mug.
If you do what you always do, you'll get what you always get.

Would you not assume it's something important for you to be disturbed at that hour?

Scary stuff, I was at a party at Hipley Close last night and this lad told me someone got slashed downstairs with a machete and I laughed it off thinking he was messing around.

He also said it was something to do with drugs but it's still disgusting for a young promising footballer to have this done to him to end his career before it potentially started.
Who's that tw*t in cowboy hat? Haslam! Haslam!

Talking of youngsters who had their careers cut down before they started.
I used to play along side a lad who was knocked off his bike as he was cycling to sign professional papers, broke both his legs and never managed to play properly again, he wasnt much cop afterwards (understandably)
