Another Chesterfield lad through the net.

Yesterday we saw a lad called King ( I think) playing against us. 19 yr old lad on loan at Hereford from Leicester. He didn't look out of place and it is a shame to see another local lad out of the area developing his career. I just can't figure out why there was a leicester coach in the coach park, maybe his team mates from Leicester had been playing nearby and then took the game in.
God I hate this league.

I played against him a few times in 6 a side games up St Mary's. He's a very good player, the ball sticks like glue to his feet.

Why is it a shame? Good luck to the lad I say and well done to him for developing his career.
Sounds to me like he is doing the best he can do, nothing wrong with that.

Well I just thought he'd be better off in Scotland.

It would be fine if the local area produced enough talent to sustain a successful Chesterfield club. The 1904-5 side - 75% born within 5 miles of Saltergate, and finished 6th in what is now the Championship - is a notable exception to the norm, and our most successful period (1936-51) came with a side chock full of Tynesiders - so for me they have to be capable, before local. Indeed, on another thread we are advocating the release of a local lad. We currently pilfer a lot of lads that might be the more natural target of Forest or County.
