ive heard rumours that Luke is wanting to get back into league football after dropping down the leagues and playing for Gainsborough trinity last season (for Personal reasons). he played 20 games scoring 16 last season.

wonder if anyone would welcome him back? or if he would be able to play at this level again?

Rather Beckett came back than Hudson.

Beckett is a natural goalscorer, he's proved that everywhere he's been.

Why Gainsborough ???

Why 3 leaevels of the football pyramid ???

I question his current ability but he would be worth a short term contract to see if he could still offer anything to us especially as Lester is missing the start of the season.

I have a feeling Barrie Hubbard would not want Luke back around the place.

Beckett chose Gainsborough because it allowed him more flexibility with his busness, I've no idea what that is.
God I hate this league.

He joined Gainsborough after negotiating a pay-off on the remainder of his deal at Huddersfield to concentrate more of his time on his business ventures. He did have offers from several league 2 and Blue Sqaure Prem clubs apparently.

To my knowledge he's been sounded out twice about coming back in the past, most notably when RM and LR met him at the Ibis in Barlborough to discuss a possible transfer when he left Oldham for Huddersfield I think.

He always knew where the net was but not sure he could cut it now though.

Purely on footballing terms, a week of training and a run out in one of the lesser pre-season friendlies would tell us all we need to know I think, rather than offering any form of contract. It sounds like he needs us more than we need him, so no need to be hasty. A Striker well past his best, playing at such a low level doesn't inspire much though, does it? Would be a last resort for me...

Who would have been involved?

Darren Brown
Mark Curtis
John Green
Nicky Law
Luke Beckett

Luke's signature aside and based on the assumption that the majority of footballers are thick, I'm not too sure how much he would have known about the second contract.

By second pressumbly you mean the lesser one, the one that was submitted to the authorities?

Surely this must have carried his signature?

If we want promotion, we need better players than a slow, past it Luke Beckett.
A new hope.

He would have had to have signed the contract.

He would, you're right and do you think they sat him down and explained exactly what the craic was? I suspect it went something along the lines of, Luke mate, just sign this, I've lost the first one you signed and we need it for the tribunal.

Edit - I don't recall hearing any shenanigans about Luke prior to him signing for us......

I have to point out that only the serial fraudster Darren Brown © was ever convicted of any offence. The FL tribunal did not blame individuals.
