The only cock up is if you go from Kwik Fit to Horns Bridge and want to go down Derby Rd, the markings send you to the right hand lane but the middle lane also goes down Derby road and so you end up in the right hand lane.....

Ian

MMM, I love this one too!

I'm adamant the middle lane is NOT for going up Derby Road!

As someone who drives 40000 miles a year all over the UK, I dont think the roundabouts in chesterfield are bad - for those people who know how to drive. As my daughters driving instructor says, they are really just multi lane roads that happen to go round. If you get the lane right and follow the white line its OK. The only cock up is if you go from Kwik Fit to Horns Bridge and want to go down Derby Rd, the markings send you to the right hand lane but the middle lane also goes down Derby road and so you end up in the right hand lane.....

As for the one working, three standing, didnt you spend years as a miner? dont want to offend as it was a terrible job that I wouldnt have done, but as has been pointed out by many, if you wanted to slack it wasnt hard....

But you'll know best.....

Ian

Horns bridge has got lights on every exit, tescos and west bars haven't,they are easy to navigate until it gets busy then thats when the problems start,so why cannot they put lights on all the other exits ?

Fishin:

For the record I don't deal with the design side of the works just the temp.traffic management.
I am on here as a Town fan so if you want to target your usual negative crappy jibes at the Council then write to them. If you want to approach me I'll be glad to see you on the kop and let you fire all verbal cylinders you want at me, as long as its at halftime and not during the match.
I'll gladly keep quite about whats happening around the roads for the Dema site if it gets on folk's nerves,i don't want to sound boring has you have been over the past few seasons with your BH jibes.
By the way the road infrastructure is not for the sole purpose of Tescos but for the whole Dema developement which our great new stadium will be a part of soon,God willing.

Cheers,Dave.

Carry on with the info please. I'm sure most of us appreciate it,particularly as there's nothing coming from anywhere else at the moment.

Yeah, I agree with that request. Any news is better than no news and if some folk aren't interested then they don't have to read your updates!

Agreed, it's very useful.
On that subject Dave, is there anything you can do to make it easier to get from Newbold to the A61 north in a morning given the chaos at the moment - queue all the way down Lockoford Lane, traffic lights on Sheffield road, Stand Road closed and even longer queue on Racecourse road?!

Sorry I'm not a miracle worker, but Stand Road should be re-opened by the end of next week. AMEC could have put 3 way lights on the junction of Sheff.Rd.but it would have snarled up Whitt.Moor roundabout. Like Dave @ H suggested allow a little bit more time for your journey. Its going to be a bit hectic next week when Lockoford Road (westbound) is closed for 3 days in off-peak hours, but at least it'll allow the road to get back to normal once its finished.
The Tesco island will be a bit hectic for about a month whilst Greenways close the inner ring of the roundabout for widening, therefore it may be a good idea to use an alternate route to Staveley eg: via Brimington Road North.
We have told Greenways to keep the new lights at the bottom of Sanforth St. switched off until the developement is near completion.

Agreed, Whitt Moor roundabout has been snarled up anyway, and it would have been even worse.
Not looking forward to the Tesco island work as I go up to Brimington regularly to see my Mum. Unfortunately there's been traffic lights on Brimington Road North for the last couple of weeks!

Well what makes you think that I would want to see you in the first place? And try looking at your signature - "A bright new future has gone dark".
