Why all the stupid bickering when this is an important issue to the fans!

I have for a few weeks now been checking regularly on the website for updated news on the ground ............ if you look, that last club post was BH's on 22nd February 2009. This ought to be a momentus occasion for CFC and hey, the town too, yet aside from the obvious lack of activity on the ground, the club appear not to be interested enough to post regular updates.

Hang on, just answered my own [ and many other peoples ] question .......... no website posts as no activity!

Forget all the rumours, forget the speculation [ otherwise some might think we are just about to pinch Owen from under Ferguson's red wine enlarged nose ] how about BH or DA standing up and making an unequivocal statement about the current status of the new ground.............. it's not rocket science, just be honest and retain a modicum of respect........... please!

Dave @ H:

Everything is on schedule for the new road infrastructure.

Sheffield Road ... Road resurfaced and anti skid surface in place although some minor c/w markings have to be ammended such as the length of the bus clearways at bus stops ( the new shelters are in place. Traffic light heads at bottom of Nelson Street should be in place in the next week.

Lockoford Road .. a westbound closure starting 13/07/09 to 16/07/09 ( 09-30 to 16-00hrs daily) from Teco to Netto islands to complete the resurfacing of the c/w on this road ( including a new central reservation and t/lights for the new Tesco access point. This section of the road will also close for one day on the23/07/09 for the anti skid surface and c/w markings. Traffic will be diverted via the A61 Northbound - Whitt.Moor roundabout- Sheff.Rd. ( southbound) .. AMEC ( gas) will carry out mannual control of their t/lights during the closure if required).

A61 Southbound.... 24/07/09 approx. Greenways will have a southbound closure of the by-pass from Tesco island ( 19-00 to 06-00hrs 3 nights) to install new t/light ducting for the island. The Tesco slip road will be re-opened by the start of this closure, so light traffic could use this as a diversionary route instead of the official route via Sheffield Road.

A61 Tesco island.... when all the above is completed the inner ring of the island will be widened and traffic will be down to 2 lanes and the t/lights system on the island may be switched off to ease congestion. These works are due to take about 3 weeks.

All being well this should complete all the major works on the highway infrastructure by Sept.09.

Hey up Dave, thats correct mate, the only problem now is because of the economic downturn Saltergate is not worth as much.I have a guess that the prospective buyers of Saltergate won't pay the original price for the site, thus causing a shortfall in revenue to fund our new stadium.Well Mr Allen has chucked in £6 million so we are led to be believed, not noted at CH as yet though??.At the end of the daymate,i think we are about to be let down again bigstyle, just hope i am wrong.

I think we should start a rumour that we have sold Saltergate to gypsies, that'll soon have local residents clubing together to buy the land.
God I hate this league.

Ha, more likely to have had to hand it over in a arguement about tarmacin' the car park for £150 (we meant £150 per square M!!)

(crazy but i know someone who fell for the same con!

Dave,
It would really put the cat amongst the pidgeona if some service provider suddenly appeared on the scene wanting to dig up Sheffield Road. Would you say that is a definite no no and could our access cope with that situation.
God I hate this league.

The works in progress are not only for Tesco building but for the whole of the Dema developement.

Harlows field was the next best thing to Saltergate, as for the keeper bit I think you were a good no.2 after me. LOL. Don't forget my bulley headers. I hope your keeping well.

Dave.H.

Believe it or not we do hold quartely coordination meetings with all the utilities County wide. The only planned work is for the Gas mains which everyone knows about. The council don't have any powers to stop any emergency works such as a gas or water leak.

Having seen and dealt with councils first had this will not fill anyone with any confidence. Councils being organised and coordinated never going to happen is it?

I'm sure there are lots of people up and down the country that have been glad of the council's emergency assistance when there have been floods etc to provide food and shelter

If they had cleaned the drains out once in a while then the floods may not have occured in the first place

Do you think if the drains where fuly cleared out that they would have been sufficient to cope with a river over spilling it's banks?

Probally not but in many cases of flooding they would have been. How often do you see the drains being cleared nowdays? You work  for the council?

i think you will find most drain blockages that cause the major problems aren't the responsibility of the councils but severn trent water and the like

You mean the Council should have control over firms it doesn't own? You can co-ordinate all you like but if you don't have control then the individual firms will take profit over communtity need every time

It only accompanies your crap about Tescos who cares about Tescos. Still use the one working three standing philosophy. If the councils have anything to do with roads and roundabouts I wonder if they can make a bigger balls up than the 2 major roundabouts in Town. A blind man could have designed those better. Just 2 examples of pure genius

As someone who drives 40000 miles a year all over the UK, I dont think the roundabouts in chesterfield are bad - for those people who know how to drive. As my daughters driving instructor says, they are really just multi lane roads that happen to go round. If you get the lane right and follow the white line its OK. The only cock up is if you go from Kwik Fit to Horns Bridge and want to go down Derby Rd, the markings send you to the right hand lane but the middle lane also goes down Derby road and so you end up in the right hand lane.....

As for the one working, three standing, didnt you spend years as a miner? dont want to offend as it was a terrible job that I wouldnt have done, but as has been pointed out by many, if you wanted to slack it wasnt hard....

But you'll know best.....

Ian
