400k confirmed by agent

The agent came across well, but I don't like his style. He also said that Wardy was prepared to sign for us, but wanted parity with two other players. I'm sorry, but that doesn't wash with me.

I heard from "someone in the know" that he was offered parity, but his agent wanted a substantial amount as well and our club don't pay money to agents. Of course his agent wasn't going to say this was he.

£400,000 does seem a good offer to me. I was expecting something nearer to £250,000.

I believe the sell on to Torquay is 25% of any PROFIT..

IE we brought him for £100k, sell him for £400k = £300k profit.
25% of £300k = £75k to Torquay.
East stand second class citizen.

Unless an agent works directly for the Club, they can clear off, no matter who they represent. If they want a fee, speak with their client.

I hope £400K is a starting point, lets see how good BH is now.

Prior to this afternoon's events, I heard Wardy quite fancied Derby.

No rush in accepting Barnsley's offer then if there are two other Championship sides wanting him,but it depends what these offers are......

I suspect Norwich were watching him again on Saturday

True, and that is an issue as 25% of any deal is a substantial amount. Wonder what the other two clubs are offering. I'm reckoning it'll be less, but now it's come out that Barnsley have offered £400k it may mean if someone else wants him more they are willing to up the amount.

if a number of clubs are involved we might get more than what barnsley have offered but I think it will be down to wages as ever.

He was not offered parity(definate from a good source) which was as much backed-up by Richardson's comments at the time when he pushed on this issue on radio sheffield at the time. If you recall he said "fans needed to understand that Jamie Ward was only 22 and the offer made to him was a good one for his age"-he would not confirm he had been offered clarity.
Poor from the board....because if he was tied to a longer contract we could have demanded a higher fee.

If they were all that great a judge of association football, they'd be watching us, not Barnsley :D

I'd be coming back down the A61 with the Barnsley chairman's money, hand and forearm in my gob, having bitten his hand off.

And i also think Roy Mac deserves a bit of credit for talking him into signing for us, when reportedly many other clubs were after him, cant see a Rico signing getting us a decent pay day
