Was the deadline for a response by us, the end of day today?

Anyone else think Barnsley are being a bit silly with this deadline business if other clubs are interested?

More likely it was wishful thinking on the Barnsley fan that told me as he doesn't rate him lol. He'd be good enough at this level

I'd have thought he's too near the first team to come to two levels lower in an exchange deal. If he was only in their reserves i could understand it but he's getting first team action most weeks, albeit mainly from the bench. He started the game v West Ham though.

I know from listening to Sheff that their fans don't rate him so as you say i guess that's why he was mentioned.

I actually said in a thread a few weeks ago that a club was liable to jump straight in with a decent bid for Ward early in the window to try and sew up the deal before anyone else has woken up, which is what Barnsley have done.
BUT I also said a couple of days ago that I wasn`t so sure he`d leave.. ...
Cant beat sitting on the fence.

A couple of days is a bit sudden for my liking, i was expecting the deadline to be a week (at least). It's still early days perhaps we can turn this offer down and wait for the next one, but we can't wait too long if we want a decent amount as towards the end of january i'd think clubs would offer less as there's more chance of us letting him go cheaply - but for more than the tribunal amount.

Barnsley probably ideal move: 2 divisions up.
Higher wages.
Wouldn't need to relocate.
Not going to become a litle fish in a big sea.
If he scores a good number of goals in next 18 months could probably attract interest from premiership clubs.

My thoughts are club should wait a while longer reject the Barnsley bid hope for a similar fee with sell on clause.

Barnsley are poised to sign Chesterfield striker Jamie Ward, 22, after upping their bid to £500,000. (Daily Star)

Daily Star?

Are you sure that's what it said as it was probably in that ridiculous text speak?

Your posting to say he'd been spotted getting on a Southbound train was at 1.17, I guess it's possible Ward could have had a busy day driving to Barnsley in the morning, then an hour in the gym then on the train...

Interesting thread on a footy forum:

http://megasoccer.com/forums/showthread.ph...0002&page=2

All the Div 2 fans that love to hate Ward are now able to come clean and admit he "ripped them apart" now he's ff to a different division!

Also contains a comment from an Ipswich fan which is a bit unexpected given Campo got so much praise for keeping him quiet on Saturday

"He looked pretty decent on Saturday, hopefully we have made a bid for him."

Never ask anyone if they're from Yorkshire. If they're not, they'll be offended and if they are, they'll have already told you anyway.
These go to eleven.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if he lets their deadline expire. I think there's a fair chance he'll jump in with both feet...
"and a pair of those Geoff Mitchell glasses, please."
