Why then, are the players not doing the business?

I think the players traded in the 'top 7' bonus for a better 'top 3' bonus.
Good Question, Death, and it kinda unrinates on the strawberries of the people who say the players are here for the money and happy to take their wages each month, irrespective of the results/league table.

On the face of it a laudable stance, but you have to wonder if ill feeling might kick in at some stage if blame for missing out on cash begins to be apportioned.

Because Rico continually plays them out of position, and continually sticks with tactics that are useless with two strikers who want the ball to feet i.e. long ball!

So Rico tells them they must hoof it long all game?
Do you not think the players have minds of their own?
If you can see Rico is tactically inept (citation needed) why can't the players???

My manager tells me at work to do a certain method, yet my method is quicker, but shes in charge so I have to do as she says!
But players mind of their own, yes... Jack Lester... games on end whilst injured he could see that we conceeded at set pieces on that back post, the same back post nobody marked. So now he runs back to mark it!

so, you know for sure he's not been told to go there?
Seems to me you are making arguements to fuel your ancient dislike of Rico on a persoanl level cos he once told you a little white lie.

this thing about the back post marking bothers me,its a joke the players if they have any sense should shout up that it is not the way,its like zonal marking which imo is garbage you only have to look at the goal villa conceded to realise it has the potential to be unsuccessful, how hard can marking be,all you have to do is put your small men on the posts and let the others man to man mark and cheat and use your wits the italians make it an art form, stand on their toes pull the shirt not blatently but just an off putting tug and lean into them and be clumsy,99.9% of referees wont give anything for a sahirt pull they see nevermind one they dont, there is nothing amatter with cheating at set pieces, its all about not conceding

Ironically putting men on the posts is zonal marking...

As soon as i read that, Lawrie Madden sprung in to my head!!
I'd better explain why:
I had the pleasure of playing against him a few years ago in a all stars game on Saltergate (think it was on an open day) although him and O'Neil had lost their pace (and i'm no whipet these days) there were still effective defender. On corners or crosses they would do exactly what you said, pull you push you, hold your arm down so you couldn't jump, block you from running to meet a ball. It was annoying at the time but an insight into pro football from the highest level.
A priviledge to play with and against names like Bruno, Waller, Brown, Norris, Jules, Lormer, Moss and Bob Newton (although he never passed!!)

This is why I would like to hear from Rico, more about his football philosophy. He should say more about how he thinks football should be played at this level. As it is we can only guess from what we see based upon his quotes and half quotes.

Hello Dave.
Y'know, as soon as i saw you'd contributed to this thread i had a strange inner voice telling me it was my post you'd replied to.
I dunno, it must be a sixth sense or summat.
Back to the point though, and don't you agree that resentment might arise at some stage if employees miss out on hard cash - and fingers could be pointed at those they think responsible?
Unless Saltergate is different to virtually every other workplace in the country, of course.

Think nothing of it. I knew you would be devastated if no one else was taking any notice of you.
The employees wager their own money and want to blame somebody else if they lose?. Which workplace has that happened in?.

Look at the video's of games whilst Lester was injured, goals conceeded from set plays on the back post... So how come when Lester comes back the back post is marked. Did Rico think F**k it Jacks injured, I wont replace him. Right now you're back Jack mark that back post!
