Some clubs have more money than they know what to do with, others still want something for as little as possible, Wigan aren't one of the biggest premiership clubs, they still run a tight ship. Rotherham dropped on good and proper when Watford enquired about Williamson and Hoskins. They didn't spend it very wisely though.

As I understand it we got 500k because that was the "release" figure inserted into Folan's new contract extension - that's the one the board persuaded him to sign after he started playing well. Without that he might just as easily walked when his old contract was up, netting us nothing. 500k was the maximum we could ask for, as I understand it, so it would appear that we did screw them for every penny we could get.

Quite a lot of prem clubs buy 350k players. In fact, most transfers into prem clubs are frees. Had the club staff and board not had the foresight to keep Folan when he looked gash, then he'd be playing for Farsley Celtic now, and we'd have no £500k - and as someone points out above, now Ward, either, probably.

Credit to Roy, how many times did we hear him say stuff like we know what he's capable of as he does it in training, then we saw him on the pitch and he looked like, well, Bambi on ice. Most of us didn't believe roy, until that final season.

So if rico says the players can do it in training one day it may just start to pay off. *fingers crossed*
