Chesterfield fans were great last night and for once went home with something to shout about.

..................but what about the away fans

For the entire 90 minutes all 222 of them sang and drummed their support for their team.

I walked out of the ground with some of them as they were singing "5-1 down and we're having a laugh" and I even complimented them on how impressive their support had been. The guy said "We're always like this, you got to support your team haven't you....whatever happens !"

Absolutely marvellous.

Totally agree...after the game the majority stayed behind and clapped the players off. 5-1 down and "we love you Aldershot we do!" was being chanted out. The best bunch we have seen up to now.

It was strange not to hear our fans moaning and to hear the opposition fans singing from my position on the kop. The atmosphere at our end was helped immensely by us not conceding the first goal of the game. Lets get the first goal on saturday as well, please, so the fans support the team like they should be doing.

Only heard a handful of rico out's at the final whistle, which i thought was wrong as we'd won in style, but as they say it's only one win, we face a much better side on saturday and to lose that will put us back to square one again.

Agreed

Up to now, I thought West Ham in the cup were the best fans I'd seen and heard at Saltergate but the Shots have surpassed them

222 (sounded like 500) for a midweek game somewhat 180 (?) miles away if phenomenal

Having got promotion last season by winning the conference their fans will be on a high still from that, they probably don't care about losing as they are (back) in the league playing footy. The good home form may also be helping lift their spirits.

They were great, as soon as I can I'm posting compliments on their board. Great bunch of fans, hopefully it'll stay like that an not just die down after the first season of league football.

Course it will die down. I remember Hartlepool doing the same when they eventually made it to league 1 level . The Shots' 6th annual trip to Macclesfield wont carry the same enthusiasm

unless they do a hereford and then their fans will be high next season when they get a whipping each week home or away.

Edit: make that the season after next as hereford spent two seasons in this division. :D

;) Yes their support was B****Y noisy even with their team down and out they still kept up the vocals. Obviously still hyper about being back in league football for the first time in 14 years.
Many a good tune

Understandable attitude given the `shots` recent history.

Its a bit like we were post DB.

I dont remember them being too vocal in the season we both went down from league 2 (when we did the double over the blunts)

They were traditionally quiet as a church mouse
Our fans will be as noisy as any when we play away in the Championship!

i agree. come next season the novelty will have worn off and they will be much lie the other teams in this division taking a few fans to midweeks games. enjoy it while you have the league status. Thats what D&R did last season.

even though they have conceeded 9 in the last 2 away games the manager has gone up to the fans and apologisd for the poor performances they have put in.
