Which team will turn up next week?

Anyway back to the footy. I cannot remember a season for a long time like this one. When i go i really dont know which team is going to turn up. The Town v Mk team or the Town v Accrington, etc team. I think Rico really needs to earn his cash now. If we play like we did yesterday then we can kiss the play offs goodbye.
At half time yesterday a mate asked me if we would win and i said yes to which he laughed and told me stop being optimistic and start being realistic. I informed him that being optimistic is drawing nil nil at half time to a team who have lost 6 of the last 7 and we are in bottom two. Being realistic is drawing nil nil at half time to a team who have lost 6 of the last 7 and we have not been out of play off places all season. I really do not understand how we cant put teams away. Rico's comments about not playing well every game is valid but when you constantly start playing badly at the wrong time of the season then you have to start questioning a few things. I do not believe for one minute that Rico is not giving his all, i applaud him for his honesty and hard work he has done at the club but i have got to question 2 things. 1. Ricos motivational skills, how many times have we gone in at half time and come worse than the first? Which leads me to point 2, has Rico got the respect of the dressing room? Surely Rico is not telling the players to go out and perform worse than the first half, so why are the players clearly not doing what he asks? If that is the case then i feel that this could ultimately cost us at the end of the season.

Nice to see a sensible post! You should post more often!

I think your last points seem very valid, When town were winning away every week we didn't need motivating; the lads knew they were going to win! But know things are not going so well, they need this from the manager. Is he saying the wrong things and getting the backs up of our players? Who knows.. all I do know is that the players don't seem up for it like they did!
Or is it just a lack of quality in key places, like central defence? Have the players lost the will to fight, because every time we score we concede at the other end just as fast! Is it this that's having a great effect on morale? Time will tell! What I will say is the defence has to be addressed first, know matter how desperate we are for wingers and a ball holding central midfielder!

That could also be another contributor! The out of positioning of our players is not helping them or funnily enough is not helping Rico either

We really do need to start doing the simple things, back to basics and stop putting square pegs in round holes! The loanees should help with this as it will give Rico more options! Hopefully anyhow

Confused me hugely yesterday.... if Rico was worried about Grays hamstring, why play him? Likewise, based on his answer.. 'I brought him off in case he got injured'.... WHAT? ... youd never play anyone if that was the case.
The Jackson substitution was weird, asking two players to switch positions and over complicating things. Why not just bring Picken on? Moloney was doing fine where he was and would have been far more effective than Jackson.

Hopefully one without Ward in.

So the jokers who have been playing ever since is your answer.
I don't subscribe to Rico's post match "should have been 3 points" "you can't play brilliant and win every week"....how is it possible then that we can play Chester (I'm sorry JESTER CITY who are shocking) and fail. Bigtime fail.
We're going nowhere. The same shower will turn up at Grimsby...we've missed the boat to gain promotion back into league one. Prepare to sit it out for a decade with Mansfield and friends.
I think i've had enough. Last season was avoidable...this season is horrendous. If it wasn't for Lester...where would we be in league 2?
Well? Cos I want to think about whether it's a good idea to have us to go down next season. With that defence and midfield...why the **** not?

Indeed it was. A loan signing and a win against Leyton Orient would have kept us up.
It really winds me up when you get some berk defending the relegation last season, as if it was some sort of achievement that we had even been in league one.
