Thank you for your understanding remark...

It had decended into a thread full of name calling (on both sides) and seemed to have no redeeming features so I worked my magic.

wow, must be nice to govern what people and cant talk about.yes there was name calling but if you take all that off here you will have virtually sod all left.
as for the lack of redeeming features, there seemed to be a few people reading it and interested, isnt that the point of the message board?or is it just your toy?

I quite often remove posts that contain abuse and swearing. Sometimes this also involves edits as distasteful posts can fall in the middle of a good discussion and so be quoted later. However I would have needed to remove several posts in that thread including many with bad language. I first closed the thread to have a go at that but then decided my time was better spent on more constructive matters.

Oh and check out point b in the guidelines...

No governing at all

By signing up to the message you agree to its guidelines and rules and many posts in that topic were clearly breach of many of them.

Sorry Pete but that's censorship. A bit of healthy name calling wouldn't have offended anyone. It's just banter that's all. I mean who are you protecting? I would argue that what people have to say is healthy and for you to past judgement that 'it has no redeeming features' is rather pompous.

I'm conscious that this board doesn't like converstion to go 'off topic' as if we are so irresponsible that we cannot be allowed to talk about anything BUT football. Ok, it's a football board but we are human beings and many off us are quite bright and realise that football is related to all sorts of things. To go off at a tangent should encouraged.

It's all so patronisng really

As the recipient of more abuse than anybody else on here, I don't have a problem with the moderators letting it go - it gives me a good laugh. However, that doesn't mean that it should always be allowed - it might genuinely upset some people, and it should certainly never be allowed to deteriorate into a mere swearing match. It might sound like creeping, but I think the moderators get it about right - if they let the seriously abusive stuff in the board would be unreadable inside a couple of weeks.

There are a few on here who are obsessed with personal vendettas that involve many insults and no swear words. They get past the moderators but its very tedious stuff.
