Can someone highlight the difference between selling Mark Allott for £20K with a year left on his deal and turning down a £100K for a player with 6 months left on his current deal.
One player wanted to move to Oldham and one player is refusing to review his situation until the summer!

Negotiating tactics, they've just sold Dean Hammond to Colchester for £250k

If we were in a better position in terms of midfielders then it'd be a no brainer ... as it is, if Leven went at this stage it'd seem unlikely we'd be able to get anyone in of a similar ilk, or to improve the squad ... I reckon if the money's turned down, it's a sign of intent by the manager and board? That'd be my reading of it anyway!

hours to go yet. 100k is a lot. Gives us 50k for a replacement and 50k towards a 2 year deal for someone?

£100k? we should have snatched there arm off, unless he is about to sign an extended deal.

As per amended post, it seems Brighton are determined to replace their 24 year midfield captain who's contract was also due to expire at the end of the season with ours, a great tactical move by us I think
We get the £250k they've just pocketed, Leven gets the contract offered to Hammond, Brighton get a player with potential who can sign on for 3 years

I think the last player to do that under these circumstances was Hudson, who had probably already been tapped up by, agreed to join Huddersfield by the same stage of that season. Even if we turn the offer down Leven will be aware of Brighton's interest and will probably continue to erm, review his situation until the day he signs for them in the summer, for nowt. 100k over 6 months is 4 grand a week - a good-enough wedge, I'd suggest, for wages of 2 or 3 decent loan players.
