Ok Ok....I'm bored......the close season seems to be longer this time than any other I can remember. I am literally dying due to lack of football (I've even started going to random pre-season games at other clubs locally (why are we starting our pre-season much later than other teams this year??)).

Anyway rumour on 606 (bbc) messageboard that Alan Navarro (midfield) and Kevin James (defence I think but not sure) are linked with us. Don't know if this is true obviously but since we haven't had ANY transfer rumours in weeks then I thought I would let you know!

Always remember Navarro being alright, don't know anything about the other guy.

Anyone else heard anything else?

Please someone tell me something to get my teeth into. Tell me we're signing Ronaldinho if you want I don't care.

I HATE JULY

Navarro is a good shout, ex Liverpool and Tranmere payed 250k for him not that long back. Think he refused a contract at Macc and was looking to link up with Ince at the Franchise.

Yeah I read that he was/is on trial at MK Dons.

Kevin James would i assume be the ex Forest midfielder who played against us for Walsall the other year in 2-2 draw

Played vs Crawley last night, came on in second half and did well according to their fans reports ... will want a good bit of cash tho. He's seen as a def midfielder, someone who can put a pass in, but not box to box and won't score many. If we'd a diamond in midfield then he'd be useful ... or else the 5-3-2 with two holding and one behind the strikers player.

Imagine so, the other Kev James is a huge hulking defender .... then again!! :)
Bit more searching and according to some Forest fans etc he's got bags of pace and is very attack minded ... to the point of not knowing where his own 18 yard box is! Right winger or right sided striker ... though midfield suits him better. Alleged issues with attitude, thinking he's the bees knees etc ...and also very much a confidence player. That's what's been gleaned so far ... wow, transfer rumours again ... phew!!!

There's no doubt James was awesome against us for Walsall when he played alongside the Danish fellow on loan from Man United (just forget his name). However he;s more sub appearances than starts so I suspect he lacks consistency - however he was very effective that day. Similar in size and style to Jamie Jackson.

As for Navarro, left sider who's found a niche at Macc. With O'Hare and Roberston on the books, I can't see this one running.

James would be worth a punt despite the obvious lack of consistency, 1 year max with a high level of pay linked to appearances.

Navarro in competition with O Hare and Robertson? He's a central midfielder!! Have you been giving Rico scoutin tips?? :) Issue with Navarro would be wages, he wants a fair bit, hence leaving Macc.
The United guy was Mads Timms the bloke who was done for dangerous driving, now back at OB in Denmark.

James was or is at Bournemouth on trial and i think played with Fletch in a game down there yesterday.

Apparently hes not caught the eye down there Phil Mulryne and a non league player Hayes Marvin Birtley have though after reading Cherry fans views on their games

Aye ... there're some good non league players out there for sure. Mulryne was always a fave of mine, but lost his way a bit at Norwich. I'd imagine with Lester playing wit James last year, and Fletch seeing him in trial matches ... they'd have a fair idea if he could cut it at League Two level.
Least it's nice to be being linked with players again!!! :P

Navarro wouldn't be competing with Robertson and O'Hare though? Rico actually said he was looking for a left sided midfield player too in the DT last week. Heard he wanted £1200 per week at Macc so they told him where to go. Also conspiracy theory that he refused to sign at Macc after Ince said he wanted him at MK etc..

Reading between the lines this Navarro geezer is going to Franchise.

Just a thought though - could he be the player that Richardson says is "dilly-dallying"?

Agree it sounds like he is bound for MK to be honest. Although we are closer geographically etc so could work in our favour. I thought Rico said it was a Championship player that was dilly dallying? I could have got that entirely wrong and can't be a***d checking!

haha! yeah I guess so. Although to be honest most clubs don't want their fans or anyone else to know what is going on before it has actually happened so there aint a lot of point paying much attention to what is being said in the papers! But at this stage (I have just had the most boring weekend ever and literally would watch kids kicking a ball around (no paedo jokes if you please)) I am soaking up every piece of info possible!

I am a sad sad man

No mate you're not sad, you're a football fan. A football fan who's desperate to see his club sign decent players and get out of this embarrassment of a division. If you're anything like me you'll have been listening to every sports bulletin on Radio Deedah, checking out Ceefax a dozen or more times a day, gleening and dissecting every scrap of info about Town you possibly can or driving the Wife daft with how long you spend on these boards.

This time of year is a nightmare. I love my cricket, but somehow it just doesn't fill the void left by football. Especially when you support Derbyshire.

Roll on next Saturday.

Well. if you do all that, surely you would agree that at least 3 of our 4 signings would have walked into our team last year, and that there is a good chance that the fourth, Robertson, might be a gem - he's a six footer, good engine, good enough to signed by Forest as a youngster and left footed.

That, surely is grounds for optimism. To descend into bouts of depression 'cos we have sold a player who at best would come maybe seventh in our list of saleable assets (behind Downes, Ward, Lester, Roche, Niven, Lowery), is o.t.t. Your missus is right. You need to get out more. Bring her to the Exec Club again. I'll buy you both a pint.

Dim view;
Fletcher and Lester agreed; Gray, on paper at least, i'll give the benefit of the doubt to and Robertson is an unknown who i genuinely hope lives up to his billing.

Your assessment of Allott will probably always differ from mine though. If you honestly think Roche is better value than our Club Captain and a proven League 1 midfielder, then i reckon we're miles apart.

As for me getting out more and you buying us a pint in the Exec, i'd better not let her see that or she'd be dragging me through the bloomin' door!

Nice touch though.

MK fielded 30 players in a friendly v Chelsea last nite and Navarro was not among the squad. Could be that he is not in Ince's plans
