Markanday is a coach?s dream in the modern game - pressing machine. As boot says, contrast against Berry, it?s night and day. Anyway I?m aware this is probably sounding like I?ve got a vendetta against Berry, deffo not the case, he?s one of the best finishers at the club and can create something from nothing, once he ups his work rate and stop throwing the occasional wobbler then nowt?ll stop him.

The only time I've seen it is when he moves in to a goal scoring position but doesn't get the pass. That is very frustrating, especially when the player in possession wastes the opportunity, With Mandeville and Dobra not being able to buy a goal lately, it's happened quite a lot.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

Meh, contrast Dobra and Markanday?s attitude vs Berry?s and I see a big difference, but hey that?s just me.

The fans frustration with Berry was perfectly understandable, though I personally would never audibly abuse one of our own players. When he came on he just ambled around while his teammates were making every effort to close opposition players down. I also think some if the comments about his assist for Drummond are way over the top; the ball was gifted to him by a poor opposition pass, nobody closed him down, and he just had to roll it about six yards to Drummond - no comparison whatsoever with Danny Whitaker cutting defences open with accurate and precisely weighted 20/30 yard passes. Berry does have that fantastic ability to produce a burst of pace to go past a defender and sm.ack a 25-yarder into the top corner, but his overall game and consistency of performance has a long way to go.

Sorry, but that has to be a massive exaggeration. Cook wouldn't tolerate it.

He doesn't in the sense he is invariably on the bench rather than starting.

I can understand Berry getting narked when he's in a great position and he doesn't get the pass, but I would press harder to try and win the ball for myself. He wants to see how many positions Will Grigg finds and doesn't get a sniff of the ball.
I know he wants to score and make goals, and that's what we want from him. We all want him to succeed be it with us or by moving on.

What about the pass to Grigg that set up Mandy's fabulous pass to Markanday? We'll have to agree to differ. A couple of weeks ago, he made a sublime first time pass along the line to Gordon who had burst forrad in front of him. Imo, Berry is a very good passer of the ball.

Agreed Goku. I love Bez, so direct and dangerous - but he has a lot to learn.

James Berry will improve, and he's at the right club with the right manager to realise his goals.

To me he?s struggled a little when up against a good defensive fullback and he starts to get frustrated. He needs to find ways to adjust but as you say, all part of his learning curve

I'd agree with that generally; I was just saying that particular pass to Drummond was relatively straightforward. I always bear in mind the fact that nothing is as easy as it looks from a seat in the stand - that's why I never berate players for making a genuine mistake.

He's an excellent passer of the ball, and what's more he often tries to pass it first time. That means some go astray, but it comes as a breath of fresh air after the swanning around with the ball we have to put up with sometimes.
Having said that, his apparent lack of enthusiasm was noticeable even from the West stand.

No need to be sorry.

Just my opinion based on his body language, throwing his arms up in the air frequently, all whilst having a poor game, there?s been a couple of others but I couldnt say against which teams because my memory resembles a sieve. Good player but a mardy boy imo.
I think he gets frustrated.....with himself.
Also, he'll look lazy because he doesn't get into the right positions without the ball. Imho

Are we not over analysing this?

Berry is not the finished article and I am pretty sure he himself would acknowledge that. He has attributes no other player in our squad has whilst other players in our squad have attributes he does not possess either. That is what makes a successful team and squad. It is possible to make changes by adding or taking away those different attributes according to what the manager thinks is required.

Well said, I think you're right.

I can partially understand the frustration because not longer after Bez came on, I thought to myself, Grigg's chasing that down but where's Berry? That said, at 2-0 up and with Tranmere offering no threat, we don't know what instructions he was given. For all we know, it could have been to wait and anticipate the error.

We've got players in the squad who can run their wotsits off for 90 minutes yet they don't possess the ability to be able to change a game with a moment of brilliance like Bez can. A squad is made up of different players, with different qualities and they have different ways of expressing their emotions.

I'm cool on the subject because what's being suggested by some fans wouldn't be tolerated by the squad or the gaffer.

Guys, a new song for Berry should be found asap. The song for Colclough booms out, as did the songs for Quigley and Tyrer. Dobra, Mandeville, Naylor, Grigg, Grimes, even Boot, have songs easy to recognise and join in with. The current song for Berry is difficult to decipher and not many join in with it. He is an exciting player, he can change a game single handedly, so please sort him out with a simple song everyone can join in with.
Bez, Bez will tear you apart again is a suggestion.
I've no connection with him in case anyone was wondering. I just think it's wrong that he ain't got a proper song.

Good grief, the man's not even cold yet!

The Quigley one was ironic though, this one is more sincere

Now confirmed. Good luck to him but might be last we see of him given his age, injury and coaching ambitions
