I know nowt, but I wonder whether any previous FA/Premiership disciplinary verdicts might now be questioned? And in future cases, the FA/P can't use the old 'It's inconceivable that refs are biased so we are fining and banning you' defence.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

You have a few really top refs, who run the game so well you hardly notice them, but there's those who think the game's about them, and especially if it's on telly.
I know match officials tend to get a bad press, but some don't help their cause at all.

Problem is, there will be nobody left to referee football.
These go to eleven.

At Premier League level, it will probably be done by AI in a few years time!

IMO a lot of the abuse they receive is self generated, appreciating how difficult it can be their job would be much easier and a lot of the unsavoury side of the game removed if they actually followed the rules, especially the basics as when a team keep getting away with abusing the basic rules they are just motivated to keep pushing the boundaries.
Stop the encroaching, two handed pushes in the back, two arms on shoulders, time wasting and go on from there.

I agree that they don't apply the rules sensibly, if indeed those rules are fit for purpose, but I disagree that referees deserve abuse for doing their jobs.

Personally I don't think the abuse is for doing their jobs,in fact I think it is for doing totally the opposite and not doing their job on most occasions.

The unfathomable thing is why time keeping is so awry. Following the world cup the world cup time keeping model was followed, which was an admittance it was wrong before surely, but then it reverted back to a cursory 1/2 minutes first half, 4/6 minutes 2nd. What happened? did taking time out of the game suddenly stop, ie goal kicks taking 45 seconds didnt happen anymore. Something changed the guidance/instructions and it must have come from the powers that be, the refs suddenly didn't decided playing 10 minutes added time was impinging on their supping time. A bizarre guess with all the tv coverage does playing to the laws ie 2 equal halfs of 45 minutes which might mean adding 10/15minutes might disrupt tv schedules.

All this encourages negative coaching, p..
.s me off but not as much as Cookie.

Schedules or lack of advertising revenue. Watch any Prem game on Sky, they do the preamble before the game have an ad break, come back for 30 seconds then have another ad break before the players come out of the tunnel,, do the line up before the game, another ad break then the kick off.

I always remember a quote from Denis Law.
He was sent off and fined but reckoned he called the referee a “ bald coot “.
