The difference of having evo and cooper now compared to the likes of Downes, shows how far we've come.

Nice guy, but very average.

mine wasn't, the talk of international caps and selling him for loads of money are some of the stupidest things ever posted on this board

As I said, top bloke, very average player and always was

All you'll get from the We Love Downes brigade is that injuries killed his career - not true - before injury he was still good for several massive mistakes a game that gifted opponents opportunities, for a lower level L2 team he is ok, you hope the mistakes go unpunished, the higher you go the more likely each mistake is punished - which is why he would never have made it higher then the bottom division - he has found his level now

Shut Downes is an apt nickname

Great clubman, nice guy, football ability massively over hyped by many on here

Spot on. Some people gave him a standing ovation when he came. Couldn't believe it.

He's a spireite fan though! So that's one positive in his favour!

You have missed the point

Wasn't Cartman's last paragraph the reason people applauded him, I.e........

He was a nice bloke and a good club man

I think he might have cut down on those defensive lapses if he didn't get those injuries.

As it is I am sure he'll be happy just to prolong his professional career as long as possible
