The important thing we got 3 points. performance poor especially first half Banks and Gardener had shockers and shows how much we miss Roberts. Also defensively we were careless at clearing our lines.

perhaps the youngsters are getting a bit distracted by wembley on the horizon,i cannot blame them if they are.

I thought morsy and Ryan didn't work very well today, seemed to lose possession and get caught out a fair bit. Ryan got dispossessed for their goal, I just think that's what made us struggle most.
Thought cooper played well.

or perhaps they are just youngsters fresh out of non league and we cannot expect them to be excellent all the time

it is a squad game and we have a good squad with competition for places (especially for the 3 behind the striker) - sure they'll be back, but they may need a rest

Agreed, their goal was a mess and Tommy looked far from convincing at times.Morsey and Doyle were motm for me, but the subs changed the game (thank god for Robbo), good to see JO in the goals.
Nando was lucky to stop on and PC had to restrain him at the end as he was after their no.18.

Jimmy was poor but Sam was my motm long with Doyle, whilst Coops.was solid again.

Morsy worried me towards the end of the game taking that extra touch and losing possession.

Also thought they were poor at Scunny last week. They need a rest to recharge maybe. We lacked energy in midfield today and it showed.

They just could not get hold of the ball Gardener in particular.

Tommy needs some confidence back. Had a poor couple of months by his standards.

My major frustration with Lee is that he does not command his area and does not help his defence out for coming for crosses.

He doesn't at the best of times, but you can tell he's low at the minute. Not like him to give so many cheap goals away as he is. Sure he'll come good again with Chapman looking like he might keep him on his toes within the next year.

I don't think Gardner's inclusion in the current starting 11 does us any favours at all, it makes us unbalanced & lacking width.

I agree. Had Roberts not been benched as a precaution I think PC may well have left him out.

Spot on. The midfield were crowded out very effectively by a Torquay side that had done their homework, and we had no threat at all from the wings. Gardner isn't a winger and on the other side Darikwa and O'Shea were no danger. Roberts made a big difference, but I reckon any decent winger would have had the same effect.
I'm pleased O'Shea got among the goals, but up to him scoring he was dire. Much more of a threat when he came more central, but he's a bit lightweight to play there regularly. He found space to take the ball for the goals extremely well though.
Playing Gardner and Banks together at this stage of their development is not working. Not a problem of skill or strength, but they don't seem to quite have that crafty edge that you really need to pay midfield. Either/or, but not both, which probably means O'Shea will get more starts. I hope he can really make it work.
Armand did very well, and if I was PC the only reason I wouldn't give him the odd start is his temper. You wouldn't have bet on him staying on the field if the game had gone on another 10 minutes. He needs to sort himself out big-time.
And we REALLY miss Drew Talbot.

Armand just needs to be told as plainly as possible that the game can involve him passing to a team mate especially when they are wide open

He's still young and learning the game and hopefully he will learn when to pass instead of shoot and to be fair he did make a couple of excellent passes and no one can deny the impact he had when he came on.....he won everything in the air!

I know quite a few on here don't rate him but If he continues to develop I think we could have a player we can sell for alot of money one day......Allez Nando !!!
