Should the game go ahead on Saturday, then rather than taking the proverbial, at the small numbers of Torquay fans that are likely to travel, I think they should be given a standing ovation before kick off, for making the trip up here, bearing in mind the awful weather, flood damage and gale force winds they are suffering, not forgetting their team is at the wrong end of the table.

Big respect to those that travel up and I've no doubt my fellow Spireites will show some class and appreciate what some of their fans are going though.

Give over man get a grip. Fair play to anyone that travels up but a standing ovation?

This is football, man up, by all means have a pint in the pub but come kick off they are there to have some pee taking banter taken out of gem

I'd rather spare a thought for the exiled Chesterfield fans that are travelling up for the game ;)

Brilliant - just checked the trains for tomorrow and the first leg has a replacement bus on due to a landslide at Botley which means I'm now setting off at 0520.

Blinking game better be on.

I hope you are right, and its fair to say that the drainage at the proact is top notch but I have just looked at the weather forecast and the met one shows it lagging it down for the next 24 hours!
Fingers crossed its on as I fancy us for a good 3 points but I am beginning to think it may be called off.

Can I suggest as an alternative, getting your shipmates to sail you round into the River Humber, from where you could take a ship's boat down the River Trent to Stockwith Basin, before onwards down the Chesterfield Canal to Tapton Lock, perhaps by canoe, from where I will be happy to pick you up and buy you a pint on the way to the ground? Oh well, perhaps not!

I'm getting a picture in my mind of him climbing out of the canoe and leaving a box of milk tray somewhere. :)

Unfortunately the trains from here to Waterloo arent running yet due to high winds and a couple of trees down.

Looks like I wont be coming up after all. I'll keep checking the trains but unless I can get to london before 12 it won't be viable. :(

Fareham. Scum central. New street. Derby. Chesterfield. That not an option?

Definitely doesn't need a change at Derby if he decides to use Southampton Central rather than Scum Central

There is a quarantined transit area at Southampton for arrivals from Pimpey and it's environs though

Edit
Looks like he's stuffed all round as there are no trains north from Southampton

Yup, all off. Been up since half four, taxi to fareham then taxi back as trains weren't running. Internet said trains were running from Southampton through Eastleigh, taxi to Eastleigh. At Eastleigh all trains suspended, bus into Southampton, bus back to Fareham, walked it back from the station as I ain't lining the taxi drivers pockets anymore today. Sat in Asdas having a coffee all glum. Should be in Spa Lane Vaults with beanhead on my second beer :(
