Fair points in the last posts. Maybe Rochdale is Hill's "spiritual home". And let's not forget the League of Ireland is about as strong as BSN.

I'm not a Chesterfield supporter, but I think the jury will be out on Cook next season if he keeps you in L1 should you get promoted. Keith Hill got Rochdale to 9th following promotion. When did you last finish 9th in L1? The second he left for Barnsley, they went down. That's the comparison, I and I think Josh are trying to make. It's all relevant.

Keith Hill is good but it’s farcical to say he’s ‘easily the best Manager in the division’. Until recently, Rochdale were the longest serving club in L2 and Hill had been in charge for a fair while before he attained promotion.

Three seasons, wasn't it? Will stand corrected if I'm wrong. One included a play-off final defeat to Stockport (incredible to think that now).

To attain success with the team he had was impressive regardless of the standard of football in Ireland.

Fair comment youth. I just think people will judge him at Chesterfield more on what he does in L1 as opposed to L2. Let's not forget Sheridan was proclaimed a god and became a devil reasonably quickly.

IMO if you take a club back down regardless of who it is, you have in essence achieved nothing. Look at our old full back Boothroyd. Took Watford into the Prem, and let them in a worse state than when he joined.

For me, if a manager leaves the club in a better position than when he joined it, job done. So a promotion, relegation and seventh finish would be a job done.

Keep you up should you go up, good job. This is just my opinion, I say the same for any club.

When making my consideration I look at everything associated with being a Manager. Results, style of play, player recruitment, passion for the job and the way he interacts with the community.

I think it’s fair to say both Managers score highly in that regard. If it was purely based on success, Sheridan would be right up there!!

Sheridan got the boot because he made mistakes. IF, and I say IF you go up, Cook should be judged on next season as much as this.

A fully focused and committed John Sheridan is a good Manager and had he not taken his foot off the gas he would most likely still be our Manager and potentially enjoying even more success.

With regards to Cook, I think he’ll leave our club on his terms for a bigger job.

Writing his notes for the Inspire matchday programme, Turner said: "Several managers have been quoted recently, talking about the expenditure on our playing budget. I would like to point out that our playing budget is pretty much the same as it was in 2004.

"Paul Cook has put together a squad together based on a playing budget we feel the club can afford. We are well below having the highest-paid squad in this division.

"It is important to let supporters know we are not putting the club at risk in trying to gain promotion. Other people can say what they want about how much we are spending but I can assure fans that we are not paying way over the odds."

Hmm,I'm not 100% sure why the club felt the need to respond to the comments.

Because we get fed up of the nobheads throughout the league who have try to pull this great Club down at any opportunity they can.
