After posting a few times on the lengthy Marc Richards thread (let's not bring it up again, please), I received quite a few private messages asking about my coaching background and experiences. Having duly responded to all, I went to great lengths to tell one that I'm in no way the oracle and know all about this and that, and we finally exchanged messages about differing set-ups around Europe and the rest of the world - wonderful stuff and we got a lot out of the emails.

Anyhow, I just read this online and wondered what people might think of it; especially those involved in coaching youngsters in their biggest developmental phase?
It's a great little Guardian article about a Dutch coaching experience - enjoy and please comment...

I like the repetition idea. Similar to weight training.

That's worth a read as well. It really does seem like we're lightyears behind and I take no pleasure in saying that.

its all about muscle memory and the golden years of football which are supposed to be between 7-11 ,the problem we have is that seasonally for this age group we are all wrong in this country,we ask them to play on wet muddy pitches when they are freezing cold, because we still have a football in winter cricket in summer mentality,we have to change the seasons and we have to invest in facilities that are conducive to improve players technically, academy football finishes in may and does not start back till august how can that be right to get the best out of players.
ITS NOT THE WINNING,ITS THE TAKING APART
