Big respect to those that travel up and I've no doubt my fellow Spireites will show some class and appreciate what some of their fans are going though.

I hope you are right, and its fair to say that the drainage at the proact is top notch but I have just looked at the weather forecast and the met one shows it lagging it down for the next 24 hours!
Fingers crossed its on as I fancy us for a good 3 points but I am beginning to think it may be called off.

Can I suggest as an alternative, getting your shipmates to sail you round into the River Humber, from where you could take a ship's boat down the River Trent to Stockwith Basin, before onwards down the Chesterfield Canal to Tapton Lock, perhaps by canoe, from where I will be happy to pick you up and buy you a pint on the way to the ground? Oh well, perhaps not!

I'm getting a picture in my mind of him climbing out of the canoe and leaving a box of milk tray somewhere.

Looks like I wont be coming up after all. I'll keep checking the trains but unless I can get to london before 12 it won't be viable.

Fareham. Scum central. New street. Derby. Chesterfield. That not an option?

Definitely doesn't need a change at Derby if he decides to use Southampton Central rather than Scum Central
There is a quarantined transit area at Southampton for arrivals from Pimpey and it's environs though
Edit
Looks like he's stuffed all round as there are no trains north from Southampton
