It make sense to keep all the Mansfield stuff in one thread just like you have one wheelie bin at home.

As for the rest of the forum, it's been pretty gash on here for a good while. Jonesy throwing his toys out of the pram might be an improvement though.

Self imposed exile by Jones, now that is a new one

I wonder if RPL will follow suit in protest at having is thread locked, I'd take odds of 7/2

dont really think there's anything here for the mods to worry about as long as no-one's getting bullied or abused.
cant see why people get so het up over what are innocuous contributions that they dont happen to like... its not as though youve got these people actually in your front room, or puffing and blowing in yr earhole. Miffed by Luke? Exasperated by Mr Rpl? Go for a nice walk till you calm down, and then put your feet up and have a good old look at the league table.

I ask you all to look at the top ten threads on this message board.

How come it has been allowed to turn into such rubbish? Time for a few weeks out I think, it's absolutely garbage, we have a number of threads about a troll, one of the longest threads ever about MTFC and more bickering that you would get in a primary school.

It never used to be this bad and I can't understand why it's been allowed to happen..

Presenters who host football phone-ins tell me the worse things are at a club, the more folk wanna talk about it.

Thankfully we're doing well, on most levels, so it's no real surprise if this forum is experiencing some sort of silly season.

If that's the price of success long may it continue, say I.

What I'd also say, though, is that the likes of 'trollmanluke' are probably turning folk off, too. I read through threads and find points worthy of reply, however he suddenly appears with his half-baked and denial-laden twaddle invariably making them about him or his little club. We're then faced with a dilemma: contribute and offer him a platform to peddle more attention seeking gibberish or leave them alone to perish?

And as he hijacks just about every thread he's effectively killing off reasoned debate.

I welcome fans of any and every club if it's to take part in a balanced, grown up discussion. Unfortunately we've some on here currently who've absolutely no intention of doing that.

Perhaps the solution is to limit the number of threads any member can post in 24 hours (suggest one thread). It may be possible to limit the number of posts anyone can make in 24 hours? Give it a trial

Good idea the first bit about how many threads, but have to disagree with limiting the number of posts, one can often have a long chat on here which would be unfair to restrict in my humblest of opinions.

It's the nature of debate and sometimes it does centre on squabbles; football support is sometimes one great big squabble anyway, just depends upon the expression.

We did that on the forum I help to moderate; it was only partially successful as some people chose not to post at all as a consequence; not the ones we wanted to leave either.

It's a terrible idea. Lots of people (myself included) dip in and out of the forum and have periods with lots of posting and then other times less so or not at all.

Here's a crazy plan, get rid of the bumholes causing the place to go to cock in the first place.

That's rubbish Roman. I haven't openly commented on a Chesterfield issue for several weeks now.

They're not half baked denial laden twaddle, they just happen to be what I believe. Considering most of your opinions with that basis were on a thread about Mansfield, that seems a somewhat bizarre comment to milk.

I will however agree. When a team's doing well, a messageboard is empty, flat and like a ghost town. When not doing so well, it's quite the opposite.

The rules of a democratic society are simple. If you don't like what it is written make your point (which you always do) and if you don't like the response, then simple. Like it or lump it.

I don't know you personally, but you seem a decent chap. If you could actually tell me what the real issue is I could probably fix it pretty quickly, but it would appear some of you just don't like the fact I support Mansfield, and that would appear to be the problem. Sadly if it is, I can't change that.

If its only threads that are limited it doesnt control Luke, for example, who doesnt start threads but still posts on here day and night. The mods currently judge the content of posts but cant control the frequency of them which, if members can't self-moderate, causes the problems many are complaining about. According to my profile I average 6 posts a day and I'm probably one of the more frequent posters. Would ten posts in any 24 hour period be adequate to curb excesses?

So are you suggesting should you win promotion people won't want to express their delight on here?

I've always said from day one, the novelty will wear off for me. But until the end of the season, and certainly until derby day, it's unlikely to.

I don't know how many posts started by others I have read, but haven't contributed to, compared to the one about us, a couple of others - in the last 3-4 weeks. I would imagine the ratio is at least 90%-10%, and let's not forget that thread was ABOUT US. :-)

I dont disagree but the mods havent and apparently wont do that. The main offenders are very careful not to be abusive and give any excuse for banning them. So maybe new rules are needed to control the minority who spoil things for the majority. Its a fair assumption, based on posting activity, that certain members have a few issues :D

You mean the board I have never left?

Look I get your point, but I've not even had a single warning since the original one. I don't comment on your games, or on most threads. The Mansfield "trouble at the mill thread" almost disappeared off the page today. It will.

You are one of the nuisance posters. Whats wrong with your life that you need to be on another club's forum day and night?! I think you claim to have a job, a partner and a family but the jury is out on that. It seems you have nothing else to do with your time but troll on here and stagsnet, to the dismay of both Chesterfield and Mansfield fans. Take a look at yourself. Then take a hike.

I think you will find I have all three (family to start very soon). Have you ever heard of the phrase "multi tasking"? I've already said Mansfield has its fair share of idiots supporting our club. Are you seriously suggesting we're "one happy family" - we argue with ourselves all the time. Do you really think I would give some of these guys the time of day? In towns of 100,000 people respectively, not everyone gets on. It's the law of averages.

For your info I run my own company and work from home, that's why I can visit each board at will. Quite often involves 10 hours a day behind a PC screen. Again that's why.

All you have done Power is proven people disagree. Since when was that not routine, and when will that not be the case?

Look it at this way, how could I afford to do a 180 mile round trip to home games alone when on the dole? I understand the irritation, but please don't get personal, something I have never done despite being called a scab 800 times.

Do you mean you are doing something else with your other hand while on here? Look, it's basically because of you and our own RPL that we are having this unfortunate debate. Give us a break, at least until a week before the Mansfield game. Its not much to ask.

I wouldn't have contributed to this thread unless I genuinely felt there was a point to make.

I've made it now.

Oh, I get it, I can come back on derby day, because hundreds of you will then visit Stagsnet.

I get your point, seriously "Power", but what wonderfully crafted irony.

The only thing I'm doing when reading comments such as this with my hand is shuffling it from one side to the other with the knuckles being the prominent muscle motion.

Again as I said to Roman earlier, you seem a decent chap too, but I don't get this. Anyway, you'll have your wish I'll have a period off. It's just too much of an effort.
