It is clear we lost it in the first half of the season - we were hopeless and losing at Yorkshire had to be the low light after Chesney's usual one innings of the season. Second half of the season we have won 3 from 8 which is good enough for mid table.

I tend to disagree that this side is good enough to come straight back up. Guptill is sorely missed and we need a bowler to support Tim and Tony.

Only Derbyshire could have a team 120-6 and then go on to lose by an innings. Gone from embarrassing to gutless.

Oh well.Lets concentrate on footballing matters. We lost more than everyone else and in the end didn't deserve to stay up.Fragile batting and an inability to bowl out the opposition cost us in the end

Fitting that we end it that way really. I suspect we'll be stronger next year and come back into the top division stronger.

What makes you say that? And what year will we get back in the top division?

What we have got in terms of the younger players will learn from the experience this year and i suspect that Chanderpaul wont be back with his hefty fee better spent.

I admire your optimism but think its misplaced! Footitt isnt siging another contract. Chanderpaul has been a waste of space and we are financially still a poor county.....sad but true.
I think we have had our season in the sun for a bit! Really hope i am wrong but suspect not......

Footitt has a signed a new contract.

Players I envisaged being key - Durston, Clare & Redfern have either been chronically out of form or injured after excellent seasons last year. I fully expect us to be in the top two next season.

Is that after the new 2yr deal announced today? ;)

I've been told that we had a competitive budget but most of it went on Chanderpaul and whilst i dont think he can be called a waste of space, he saw us to a win at Somerset to keep us in it and a few other scores, he certainly hasnt had the impact that was hoped. A similar budget next season spent better i think we will be there or there abouts again. If the club are serious about the ground changes they need a division one side that also does well in T20, 50 over to get the fans in.

Div 2 next season will be stronger than the year we went up. Essex, Hants and Surrey should be better and Kent are under performing.

4th at best I reckon.

See my finger was firmly on the pulse again!Posted Image

However my embarrassment is outweighed by that bit of good news, as i rate him and thought he'd be off so one of the so called big counties....

With regards to chanderpaul i will admit he hasnt been a wavel hines but he hasnt exactly been a rodgers, azza or holding either!

Wayne Madsen has won the "Cricket Writers' Club County Championship Player of the Year" whilst the squad are already in training for next season and the picture appears to show Chanderpaul being involved over on the far left....

That's just some blokes standing on one leg!

Do you have any partially clothed pics of the Dutch Women's Hockey team whilst you are at it Jon?

I've a feeling they are in the process of wonderful bleep test!! Seem to remember them doing this last year where they did it at the end of the season and then before the new season i presume to measure how they'd kept up fitness etc. It was more a case however that i was surprised to see Chanderpaul involved in it...sort of suggests he will be around next year again.

This statement from the club today re 'Twitter-gate' seems ludicrously OTT.

Agree...not sure why DCCC need to be getting involved other than you know who as its nothing to do with the county cricket club. Its also given the wrong impression that folk have been commenting about them with regard to the allegations reading comments about it on Facebook.

DCCL\DPCL have released the stuff they needed to, Derby Evening Telegraph have made a story of it and now it should just be dealt with and thats that. I do think however if it wasnt for the fact it was Swarkestone it would never have reached the levels it has.

Reading it, they've banned people from all sorts of things on the basis of something they've potentially re-tweeted. A button press. It's about time one of the tabloids got this story!
