Appears the regionalising of Div 3 wont be happening so cross that off the list. One thing i forgot with the make up of the division next season though is that teams all over the shop jacked in last season so 5N was one short anyway and with gaps above to fill anything could still happen. Need to dig the rules out again to see what the case is in terms of filling up!!

Two teams definitely go up and down from the leagues with less teams. It was confirmed at the start of the season.

Like you say, could be a few teams going up having finished 3rd.

We'd welcome the chance to go up to 4n given the chance and I think we'd more than hold our own. If the make up of 5n is as it is now I see two from us two and Belper Meadows going up.

massive gap from 5N to 4N

as South Wingfield proved and to a certain extent Codnor who have had several back to back promotions and then hit a wall at Div 4 and finished 8th

I'll take your word for it as you've played in most of the middle divisions in recent years.

Certainly little between 6N and 5N. If we sign a couple that we hope to I think we'd do OK in it.

aye, played in 4, 5 and 6 in recent years (and 8, 2 and 1!!!!)

standard of 4 really impressed me this year, 2 teams apart every side in the division had plenty of decent players and there were few easy games, the best 2 sides went up and both had players that would not be out of place in division 1, in fact several of the sides were no worse than some of the teams in division 2

Barbs would be fine in 4 (as Codnor were)

And it would be nice to have another local game so I'm hoping you come up

And playing at Walton Damn is a good excuse for a walk down Brampton after the game!

I'm hoping not to miss the trip to Barbs this season if only for the fact its probably the closest cricket ground to my house so i can trundle down Chatty Rd with my bag and then home afterwards possibly calling at the Peacock on route!!

This years Div 2 was as poor as it's been in the four seasons I've played in it.

I'd be surprised if any team in Div 4 from this season would have survived in Div 2 though. You've only got to look at 2 or 3 of the players from Wirksworth who were relegated to see the jump in standard as you start to make your way up the leagues.

Cant say i'm overly upset for Wirksworth...never a fan of the way they've gone about things. What happened to them this season? Must have chucked a few quid about at the likes of Ant Wooley amongst others!

No, they weren't my favourite bunch this year.

They came to our place early season, moaned about everything they could, had a 'coach' walking round the outfield filming the bowlers on an iPad, and when we beat them, in a pretty close game in fairness, they all stormed off after.

Then we beat them pretty comfortably at their place. Similar sort of stuff, although maybe the realisation that apart from Woolley they weren't a great side was starting to dawn on them.

It's ok basing your side around two or three paid players like they have done if you have club players who are good enough to contribute at the level you're playing. That was Wirksworth's issue as they didn't have a good club player that I saw and the stats over a season would back that up.

That and their Pakistani international overseas didn't do anything with the ball.

Remember the time Meadows turned up with Dick Owen as "coach"...from what i saw that basically meant he took drinks to Asad Ali and got tup on when we bowled them out for 100 chasing 140 to win!! The money and dicking about some clubs throw at things at some levels is beyond me. I'm not completely against paying folk but they have to be doing more than rolling up on a saturday, doing a bit of batting and bowling and then disappearing until the next weekend. To many like that or distinctly average players getting some sort of payment these days which makes it hard for clubs trying to go about it the right way. For me you need to be seeing more return on the money than just a few runs and wickets.

The year after our exodus happened we asked around some folk about coming to join and the majority of the time the first question you got back was how much we were going to pay them and a lot of them were folk who had performed far worse in terms of stats than lads who were still at the club.

Surely that just means you now have an official reason to go in there for a drink!!

All you need now is sponsorship from one of the curry houses on Brampton and post match is sorted!!

Came across this top ten for an idle lunchtime trip down memory lane.

Personally Sir Viv's in my opinion is the best innings I have ever seen.

I remember watching it on TV and I think it might have been the first game of that series where the West Indies were utterly dominant. I was thinking at the time that the England crowd are cheering him as the Windies were being skittled and they just want to see a decent game. Then at some point as the score got over 150 they were thinking will he ever stop.

Top ten

Certainly think Morton and Clowne would have done, going on what 2 was like in 2012 - perhaps Darley Dale as well

Reckon the biggest jumps in standard are from 1 to 2 and from 4 to 5 from experience

In the winter 'nets' become committee meetings for obscure and non-existent sub-committees!

I've not played against them so I couldn't say for sure. I'd just be very surprised given the standard of team that has gone down from 2 this season.

There is certainly a massive difference in standard between 1 and 2. I was very surprised how big it was when we went up last time. Hopefully our 2012 nightmare will put us in a better position for our second attempt.

Good morning session at 95/1. Madsen was dropped in the slips. Shame there might not be a great deal more play today according to the forecast.

Looking ahead Taunton look likes a full days play today but they are due to get more rain tomorrow and Thursday whereas Derby should be dry.
