phew - ironic it was more byes.

Now the two form teams in the division face off next week!

Regardless of staying up or going down, plenty of spirit, bottle and application displayed in the last month from a team that was getting hammered left right and centre.

Great result - enjoy your weekend chaps.

Table looks a bit better now....4th from bottom whilst Notts have dropped into the bottom 2. They have two games in hand but that will be down to one once they finish today where they need 210 to win but its peeing it down in Nottingham so unlikely they will get a result there.

http://www.ecb.co.uk...petitionId=1259

Derbyshire have two home games but one is v Durham then Warwickshire who are potentially catchable. Notts go to Durham and Middlesex then host Somerset. Somerset aside from that game host Surrey who then go on to play Warwickshire and Yorkshire. So it appears all playing each other!!

Notts's bonus points haven't been added so that table is false anyway.

Not so much false as not upto date yet!! ;) Think Notts are on 120 with bonus points so we drop a place but unlikley they'll get a win with the weather so think they will get another 3 for the draw.

Tremendous result. No other way to describe it. We can be proud too that our homegrown players have played their part during the recent turnaround. Even if we do go down we look in decent shape for 2014.

That's the local cricket season done and dusted. Annoyingly a win away from promotion but too late to worry about it now.

Did what we could yesterday but just up short in the end. Few silly defeats along the way not helped but some of the younger lads have another year of experience under their belts and can learn from it.

Onwards to next year and we'll see what happens.

We're hoping that having finished third any re-organisations or sides dropping their firsts into their seconds will give us half a chance. If not we expect to be stronger next season.

I'd heard that. One or two of the struggling clubs above may be tempted to take a drop and rebuild.

To be honest i'm not convinced as in my experience if the league do something like this in the past they've notified clubs well in advance of it happening but we shall see. As it stands it looks like our division next season will be :-

Ilkeston 2nds and Sth WIngfield 2nds down from 4N both of whom finished 130+ points behind the rest of the division and by all accounts were very poor.
Belper Meadows and Belper Amateurs up from 6N. Meadows probably a useful side bearing in mind they dumped their first team this season and a few stayed to play well below where they have been playing before. Ams i dont know a lot about other than they play on the top of a B****Y great hill and you dont want to be away there early in the season!!
That leaves this lot from 5N to make up the division....

Chesterfield Barbarians - 1st XI
Ashover CC - 1st XI
Eckington CC, Derbyshire - 2nd XI
Denby CC, Derbyshire - 3rd XI
Alfreton CC - 2nd XI
Selston Town CC - 1st XI
Sandiacre Town CC - 3rd XI

Early predictions and its always finger in the wind as you never know how teams will end up especially with 2nd\3rd teams is that us, you and Eckington will be there or there abouts again plus Meadows to be in the mix. Be interesting to see what happens with Alfreton as Lineker has scored a bucket load of runs to fire them up to the Prem and then is emigrating to Oz this winter..their best player by a street!!

Hopefully we'll make a better fist of Div 1 this time round.

Glad for a break!

Aye...well done on the promotion and title. Strange season for me...so stop\start that i've not really felt like i was waiting for the end of the season.

One little thing...interesting story brewing over the border in the Notts Prem where one of the bigger sides, Mansfield Hosiery Mills, appear to have been thrown out of the Prem and banned from it for three years after getting caught paying more than the allowed two players. Now i suspect its one of those where all those playing etc know pretty much all the clubs are doing it but it appears to be the first time a team has been done for it. Must have some compelling evidence to be brave enough to do it.

Appears the regionalising of Div 3 wont be happening so cross that off the list. One thing i forgot with the make up of the division next season though is that teams all over the shop jacked in last season so 5N was one short anyway and with gaps above to fill anything could still happen. Need to dig the rules out again to see what the case is in terms of filling up!!
