Good battling last hour from the lads today. Four quick wickets & then unscathed with the bat. Be great to wipe the deficit off and see Surrey backsides start to twitch.

Meanwhile in Scarborough, thank god for the Convict/Black Cap partnership! Pushing us towards a draw!

I buzz off for a fortnight and DCCC start winning.

Any chance of a whip round to send me off again??

Good result in Scareyboro today.

Our three remaining wickets need to last 'til lunch tomorrow.

Do that, and the worst we'll get is a draw.

The report on Cricinfo is good. He says the pitch is becoming a minefield and has us as favourites at this point. Not sure I agree but that's perhaps more my natural pessimism than any inside knowledge.

We're favourites at this point but it could easily change. These two are the key.

looks like a loss now

surely it can't be right for a county to bring in someone like Amla at the end of the season to artificially keep them up

Cricket needs a transfer deadline day

Money talks and the ECB will do anything to help the likes of Surrey to stop up at the expense of little old Derbyshire

I suspect that is the end of the great escape

Just have to hope Surrey go down with us

A win at Taunton would seem even more unlikely than one at the Oval. Oh well.

Somerset 103 all out in 33.1 overs after Chawla took 19 from a Palladino over only to be caught off Groenwald in the next over. Decent figures for the pair of them mind you!!

Tim Groenewald (rfm) 13.1 4 33 5
Tony Palladino (rm) 13.0 5 34 4

Just shows what our best two pacemen can do.Makes you wonder sometimes if they pick the team out of a hat.If we can get maximum points at Taunton it will give us something to play for at Derby over the next couple of weeks.

Hasnt Palladino been injured and Groenwalds wife gave birth last week which is why he didnt play?

To make things worse for Somerset :-
Derbyshire CCC ‏@DerbyshireCCC 3m
DROP! @pborrington (2*) is dropped by a diving Kieswetter off Gregory. Was going straight to slip. Derbyshire 2-0 (1.2 overs). Somerset 103.
