Fair to say that the merger with Shirebrook\Tibshelf helped the Barbs but you see so many of these mergers go belly up they've done well to make it work. Normally something happens that means whilst clubs join in name one set of players tend not to go with them. The Killamarsh\Bolsover merger a prime example of it not working. The merged 2nds were meant to play at Bolsover but apparently numerous Killamarsh players opted to play for the 3rds instead so they didnt have to play their "home" games at Bolsover.

It seemed a win/win situation for all concerned at the time. I only know the basics, but Sheepbridge's players could all go and play somewhere and the Barbs gained a decent number of good local players and a place in the DCCL.

Going beyond the merger, what I like is that even though they don't have much in the way of facilities, they've gone out and looked at ways of improving the club rather than just moaning that it's hard work, which seems to be the stance of a few clubs. Numbers wise, they have the biggest junior set up in the area, as a result they can run 3 teams and they are moving forward as a club, certainly from the club they were 5-10 years ago. It's no coincidence.

Creswell played with 10 players against 3rd in the league and thrashed them, lets just say the 11th player failed to make the pitch for his and the other players safety from still being smashed from Bury.

The rule regarding juniors is that if you are in the first year at secondary school and are playing at county level standard then you can play senior cricket with county board approval.

Bushy the son of one of your first eleven players will be able to play senior cricket next season if he gets that approval. If you do not play at county level you have to be in the second year i.e. year 8.

Thanks for clearing that up, Ump. The young lad in question looks like he's going to be a hell of a player!

All the young lads either looking good or showing potential and now Tom Knight looking great albeit on a friendly pitch

Why didn't we get desperate earlier

Looks like the Groundsman's got desperate according to Robert Croft, says it's an unfair pitch......funny that it was OK when Derbys were batting!

How the does the pitch degrade so much within an hour

I bet nothing would have been said if roles were reverse

Having said that I would expect us to be producing results pitches from now on in, hope we don't over do it

Be typical ECB if we got points docked. We've produced result pitches all season just not for us.

It wasn't dangerous and it was the same for both sides. No doubt the ECB will see it differently.

Defending a very modest score we bowled very well and took wickets. There were some ugly black clouds around and I wonder if Durham took a few chances with one eye on dl .Nevertheless we were worthy winners on the night .The so called experts on sky must have watched another game

Is it me or do Derbyshire seem to get hit by the released England players thing more than other counties!! We've had it numerous times with Yorkshire players and it appears we could end up facing Finn if he doesnt make the test team tomorrow :-

Derbyshire CCC ‏@DerbyshireCCC 1m
TEAM NEWS: Middlesex have selected James Harris, who plays today, to be replaced by Steven Finn if he is released by England tomorrow.
