O'Shea. Inconsistent, an inferior version of Roberts and not in the same class for creativity as Randall. Best brought on as a surprise package if we're struggling with twenty minutes to go.

I usually agree with what you say, football-wise anyway, but I'm not on the same wavelength as you with that one.

Oshea is far better with the ball at his feet, he can beat a man and shoot from distance better than Randall! I know this for certain as Paul cook brought in oshea and got rid of Randall.

Yes, you might even be right, he can beat the same man several times in fact before he loses it - but he can't PASS as well as Randall, which is the point of the discussion and why he wasn't asked to play in a deep midfield role.

Randall created next to naff all last season.

One assist last season behind the likes of Westcarr, Armand and Boa Morte...

It's a myth, the odd sublime pass but for the majority of the time he picked the wrong pass, when an easy ball was on. If you keep giving the ball away the opposition invariably make you pay. Our ball retention will be far better this year now Randall has gone.

this message board has missed you, I`m glad your back with little gems like this one.

Maybe he could join that other midfielder you keep telling us was one of the better footballers in the league with a higher than 80% pass completion rate, over in Buxton.

I suppose the proof will be in the eating so to speak - lets see where he ends up, and how he fares at his new club - and how the fans there rate his performances.

Thought more off you than that lol

When you look at a league table do you believe that the top team is the best in the league and the bottom team is the worst over a season ?

Come on 'h'. I loved the way Randall could pass a ball, but to say he's better than O'Shea is madness!

O'Shea scores, assists has great movement, takes men on with his flair and trickery, plus has a bit of pace about him. Yes, he's a bit inconsistent and often loses possession with overdoing it a bit (like Jack did tbf), though what do you expect of a flair player in the bottom league? These types of players are still inconsistent in the top leagues!

As much as I loved Randall's vision and range of passing, he's not in the same league as O'Shea and did none of the above that I've listed about O'Shea.

We'll have to agree to differ then. But at the moment the ball-winning is taken care of - Ryan and Morsy/Togwell: the trickery is taken care of - Roberts: the missing piece is somebody with a real eye for the pass that opens up a defence. And the person who really needs that pass is Mark Richards our 'lone' striker, who isn't going to win a lot in the air but makes excellent runs off the ball which are very often not seen.
If you look on Player you'll notice that Randall spotted them on a regular basis.

Why bother with player? Look at osheas record in the league with his various clubs then look at randalls! Look whos got a contract at a league club look who hasnt! Look who cook wanted look who he didnt! Please please stop with the randall guff. Hes gone and we will be better off without him!!!

H, you wouldn't find a single manager in the country who would rather have Randall than O'Shea in his squad.

At the moment Randall can't find any manager who wants him in his squad full stop.

He played in their last game against Blackpool on Tues 23rd July. From their Twitter page, he played 90mins.

Let's get this into perspective.. Randall IS a lot better player than many on here give him credit for AND Randall IS nowhere near as good as O'Shea.

Right that's the end of that, can we get back to Ian Evatt posts now please as it's not a Randall thread ;)

Assuming everything went ok in Burton today, and I have no reason to think it did not, then I think we'll be hearing about Evatt signing at the fan's forum tomorrow night. No better way of starting the evening and perhaps deflecting a bit of negativity ;)

Can't say there's much negativity around at the moment. I quite miss it
