I've got to disagree here - I'd be really concerned if he didn't give his all for Southend, as I want professional players to play for CFC. I have no time for anyone who throws their dummy out of the pram. Imagine if Darikwa got unsettled in January and refused to play and didn't give 100% for us because the Merseyside clubs were sniffing. It's easy to say things like that when it's not our player. He's contracted, he's a popular figure there and a key player - of course he'll give his all, Chesterfield or no Chesterfield.

Me? I'll be disappointed if what seemed like 'the last piece of the jigsaw' doesn't sign, however I'd guess there're a number of League One or even Championship standard central defenders still without a contract and prepared to sign for Town. In short, I reckon we're in by far the stronger position.

Patrick Kisnorbo

These to me are the realistic ones, that are out of contract, and have experience?

I have been told we have been warned off by Southend Utd for unreasonable number of approaches so CT has decided to cool it for the time being.

the journalist was being fed a line by 'sources close to the club' - I automatically disbelieve any such stories. What they really mean is 'this is the party line we'd like you to print'. Just signed for Bury after a trial. I think we should be looking for someone aged about 25-26.

don't know if this is true but I have been told that the saga of Southend reporting us to FL will get us into trouble due to it been an illegal approach to the player without Southend giving us permission. The story I have been told is that he has been to the club and the 25K we offered isn't an issue it is the approach we have made that is the problem? If this was true (I say if) we would be in trouble
