Another wicket would be nice but it's been a decent day for Derbyshire today.

Yep, done well so far but need to wrap things up. Couple of other sides dug themselves out of positions with late runs least of all us yesterday so need to wrap it up for a useful first innings lead.

Having a run out in the Mansfield League on Sunday but after Pilsley have withdrawn from 5N we dont start for 2 weeks!! That said not having to play at Pilsley in April is a bonus!!

BBC says twelve degrees locally for Saturday. I'd call that 'acceptable'.

I've played in worse....Aston on Trent at home last season springs to mind!! I was at deep square leg and heard it hit the hands of a lad at deep mid off as he caught it!!!

Crap batting performance yes and could happen to any team this point of the season however plenty of positives from a battling first innings and bowling well for a first innings lead. I notice you have omitted wrapping up the Middlesex innings sharpish this morning as being an embarrassment.

It was always going to be a massive step up in Div 1 and finishing 3rd bottom would be an achievement.

We wasted six and a bit good sessions (a first innings lead v a well fancied side) in a dreadful hour and a half. It's disappointing but not terminal at all. I always thought that our batting could be the weaker link and so far it's been that way. Plenty of time to put it right though starting with v Notts next week.

No game again this saturday thanks to Pilsley packing up their first team so hoping a couple of weeks rest will sort it.

Why no game this weekend just gone? I noticed Rog turned his armed over in the seconds. Odd number of teams in the league (before Pilsley's pull out?)

yeah, have been asked to open this season, which I like doing anyway - however after a few weeks of getting bored and getting out for not many I may find myself down the order or in the 2nds! not too bothered where I bat to be honest, just want to enjoy cricket

yeah, also saw Asher's 2nd XI - could fall foul of the wonderful DCCL 'Spirit of Cricket' rule thers

I gave up trying to understand those rules when I was on the old Sheepbridge committee, in fact it was a relief when we folded the seconds! We played loads of 'ringers' in our last season anyway. It was quite fun trying to get those sorted when sat with a pen and blank team card at 1.30!

I assume it was something to do with ground availability up at ashover. Think football gets priority in April. The game that should have been played on Saturday will be played on a Sunday later in the season. Think it was Matlock 2nds at home although we play Alfreton away on a Sunday as well for some reason.

Alfreton tend to do that to get more games played on the main ground rather than the awful school ground.
