Just a thought, didn't Hird drop 2 divisions to stay round here because of his family? So why would he want to move to the bottom end of the country with Southend?

Got to say Cooper and Cresswell sounds like a perfect CB combination for a championship winning team! Would be a great signing if true imo.

Paul Cook always said that he wants goalscorers in all positions so a CB that's scored 8 is a square peg in a square hole if you ask me.

Whilst he may be a bit slow and cumbersome Cresswell has done well at this level for a number of years now and he shouldnt be judged on being given the run around by Davies and Lester in a pasting during a game which is arguably one of our best performances for years. He looked solid for Southend against us earlier this season and he has a useful knack of scoring. Him and Cooper would be a strong pairing i think plus folk are looking for a captain\leader type and i think he could be that kind of figure.

I think at times we are a bit honest and need someone to get in the refs ear a bit to get decisions etc a bit like Jones and a couple of others did for Bradford. Cresswell could be that sort of figure.
