Reading the threads that are being started about Paul Cook, they are starting to have a common ground. " let's slag him off", this is ranging from who he's signed to how he plays them.
C'mon folk, lets nip this in the bud before it gets out of hand. Ok the past few games have been dire there's no argument from me on that but what we don't need is a growth in momentum against a bloke who has only been at our club for 6 months. This season was hyped up a bit by all of us when we saw the calibre of players we were signing at the start, we all know that they aren't living upto their capabilities but we also know that they aren't rubbish players.
We had a big momentum build up against John Sheridan that got most people dancing in the streets when he went off trimming his grass, causing a farcical display when waiting for a successor to come in. If we let things build up as they are we will end up as big a joke as Blackburn have been this season. Do we really want that?
For as bad as what we are we aren't relegation fodder, so why don't we just write off this season as a big learning curve and let Paul Cook get on with his job without all the added pressures of the supporters getting on his back?
Lets not have this turn into a witch hunt as big as it was with JS, when he couldn't sit down and watch a match without somebody writing a thread about him.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

Cook deserves the chance to build his squad, and a full season to try to get promotion.

He should be given a sensible budget and sensible constraints to work within.

If this years was £1.300,000 I would give him £1.200,000 with another £100k to use in Jan if req
A new hope.

i think if you are 14th in div 2 with a supposed top4 budget you have to question people in senior positions at the club....has cook the ability to galvanise any given set of players better than past managers, the answer seems to be no on current form,he even appears to have lost the plot recently with his tinkering, yes he has restraints yes he has players from sheridans era but dont tell me none of them respond too his style of management.....has cook actually ever played a balanced side from the start...answer definately not.

1.2m wheres that coming from unless he offloads Hird Togwell Richards and maybe a couple more. Mr Allen said we need to save 3m he says he isnt putting anymore of his own money in Season ticket sales probably dropping the momemtum gone attendances dropping with what is left of this season with little chance of them coming back. Budget will be much lower next season than you think. Any concert or transfer fees 30% goes to paying off debt the budget will be much lower next season.

Agree.....I think this board is getting ridiculous. We are in transition Paul Cook has had to get rid of the deadwood and still has to move a few players on. He didn't bring in Richards or Hird who appear to be a big part of his budget so he can only work with what he has.
I'm very happy with him as manager and the players he has attracted to the club so far.....people need to get off his back and give him a a chance. I believe he should also be alllowed to bring in his own No. 2 because its clear to me his knowledge is far in advance of Tommy Wrights. I'd also try and remove Crossley because if anyone should be in the spotlight, he should with the rubbish keepers he's brought to the club (Fleming, Soderberg etc....)and to be honest can we afford to carry a full-time goalkeeper coach? So I'd replace TW & MC with one No.2 and a part-time goalkeeper coach (which is what a lot of clubs do)

Whilst I am in full agreement with you on this lets not forget that there are at a guess a max of 100 posters on this board which is a very small % of fans and you tend to get more negative posters on message boards than possitive, probabley because the fans who are beeing negative feel a need to vent their anger whilst most"lets give it a chance" fans probabley can't be bothered to post

We need pessimists because they help to keep the optimists in check. We also need optimists because they help to keep the pessimists in check.

We could just introduce a IQ test into the registration. That would reduce the silly posts. But it wouldn't be much fun then.

It's clear that PC's knowledge is far in advance of Tommy's???? I'd love to know how you quantify that statement? With better players at his disposal, that he himself has brought to the club, PC's record is still no better than Tommy's, in fact, it's worse!

So, what are you proposing, that we aren't allowed to be critical, even if we end up 3rd from the bottom? That we allow a man who's managerial record is, what i'd kindly describe as 'poor' to be at the helm until you and others allow? The fact of the matter, in my opinion, is that we have incompetent idiots running the show and PC is going to be the patsy who takes the fall for their abject failure.

I'm starting to think Brian Laws wouldn't have been such a bad choice after all!

If there are threads saying the same thing about PC have you ever thought there may be a reason?

I understand your 6 month comment but remember in this league the average length for a Manager to stay at a club is roughly 17 months?

The fiasco with Sheridan was more to do with the board and not acting when they should, causing needless problems for themselves. Like the majority on here I believe he should have gone at the end of last not the beginning of this season.

You're right, the chances of relegation are just about zero. However the fact it's even being mentioned should be a cause for concern.

This season has undoubtedly been written off and will be just about palatable if the "powers that be" have learned from it. Unfortunately I'm not sure they have.

I don't agee with some of his tactics and team selections, but he's doing his best with what he has to work with. He's a breath of fresh air this Club needs, the fans haven't been this close to a manager for years.I'm sorry to say that I don't like the idea that TW still has some influence on team affairs,no matter how little. It needed a total clear out but finances dictated that.I don't like the way we have treated Jack and I think TW has had some influence in that because he was wrapping him up in cotton wool.If some fans are worried about the threat of relegation then why don't they try and help the team through this sticky period.Instead of staying away from games because we are playing crap and don't have the confidence to go out and win games,if you can, get to as many games as possible an give the players your vocal support even if you think they don't deserve it.God forbid if we are wanting points against Fleetwood and Exeter to stay up,you can guarantee that the stayaways will be clamouring back for tickets. 3 more wins will see us safe, but I'm sure Cooky will see us to 6 or 7 victories given some luck. I'm not writing the seson off just yet but I expect a lot more effort and passion from the Team as a whole.

He may be doing is best, what we have yet to find out though, is his best good enough?

He may be a "breath of fresh air" but if I want to be amused I'll buy tickets for Chubby Brown.

I would hope not only TW but everyone involved with the team has some input into the set up. It's Cook's job to separate the wheat from the chaff regarding ideas. If he isn't strong enough to do this then he's in the wrong job.

Maybe the paying punters who are staying away feel the onus is on CFC to provide something the want to see before they part with their hard earned money. After all I guess wouldn't keep frequenting the same Bakers is they gave you stale bread each week.

I hope Cook is capable of guiding the team to 7 or more wins this season, although I can't see it. What I expect to see not hope is more commitment, endeavour and nouse from the team as a whole.

The man hasn't even been here 4 months yet, his first game in charge was 3rd Nov. But yes you are right and also he would do better with his own backroom staff and not Sheridans left overs, eg TW. MC.
