I'll be standing on the roof in Belper with an extra long aerial- can just about pick up Peak from there when the online feed is blocked.
Seriously- this is great news.

No rights to broadcast commentary online as the Player sites have the rights to do that. Its the same with Radio Sheffield, you can listen online up til the point of kick off at which point you get a message about not being able to broadcast the current programme online.

I suppose because Peak can't transmit that content online/worldwide due to licencing issues, but on a practical level I can't fathom why there's a need to block it since the audience beyond Chesterfield will be very limited anyhow and not likely to be a future source of revenue.

Actually, that makes sense. Blocking the Peak feed does encourage people to subscribe to Player, whom I suppose have paid for the rights to broadcast.

The fact that only a few isnt the issue...they dont have the rights to stream commentary online so if they went ahead and did it i suspect they would be in trouble. There appears to be different rights packages available and the one to allow commentary online is with the Player sites and they take advantage of this by charging for access to it.

Having subscribed to player and failed to get it working when In Siberia, I was tempted to ring my folks over Skype (free) and tell them to just leave the radio by the computer.

When my cousin was living over in Canada she used to use Skype with a connection to her parents for them to watch Liverpool games on telly. They would make a Skype call and then my aunty or uncle would point their computer at the TV so they could watch it.

As Phil T is so busy all on his lonesome on Friday night, it would be best for all concerned for Phil to allow Peak to share the online commentary, as they did last year on some occasions.

I'd rather have boiling bleach poured into my tabs than listen to most of their stuff, but ten out of ten to Peak for supporting their local outfit.
