Absolutely appalling. What an example to set. So why, four hours later . am still grinning every time it gets mentioned !
Reminds me of that scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark, when that big bar steward tries to intimidate Indie with his machete skills and he just shoots him - fowl play son ? I'll show you fowl play !

Ay? Were there chickens involved?

Call me cynical, but it seemed such a strange thing to do - maybe he just wants to be off at christmas!

Clarify what you mean by 'off'

He'll still be expected to train (including Xmas day) and will still be expected to be at the ground on Boxing Day (he may be allowed not to travel to Southend, as will the other non-participating players I'm sure).

Given PC's seeming stance on discipline, I think it safe to assume he'll be fined too (and rightly so).

Hope so. He should be made to travel and attend .Even if he was being fouled it was a ridiculous thing to do. I know he,s probably a bit frustrated at the moment (and rightly so), but that was a lack of discipline that was inexcusable.

Just watched the replay and I can see the missus clapping and cheering in the background.
I half expected the ref to bang the canvas/pitch 3 times and count their player out.

Having seen it this morning I'm gobsmacked. What on earth was he thinking? Legend or not he wants fining. Could have got away with a yellow though with a different referee.

Missed it yesterday as I was busy texting my friend.
Just watched it on iPlayer and your spot on. A bit of over acting and IMO a harsh red.

I didn't make the game yesterday due to manflu, so I watched the incident on the FLS this morning and for me the red was a bit harsh. Granted he shouldn't have done it but Jack wouldn't be jack without this side to his game. He gets man handled like this every time he plays, the incident when he had his arm broken still plays on my mind, for me it was a yellow card with a dressing down from the ref

Agree with that; Jack was daft to make it so obvious - he's usually more subtle. The Burton players were throwing themselves down at the slightest touch all afternoon, and the ref was repeatedly conned. A sensible, competent ref would have given him a yellow and a good ticking off.

If you do it in the stands outside the ground even 3 miles away from a football ground you'll get an OTT sentence & 3 year ban.
