saw them at Fusion in town way back (78 or 79)in the good old days - town playing the best football I've ever seen under Arthur Cox and Thursday night rock night at the Fusion with a band every week - Pretenders, Cure, Specials, Punilux etc. Ah, nostalgia ain't what it used to be

Fusion............ Bluddie ell! A blast from the past. I remember they had a black DJ, who was a very good dancer. The times I rolled down those stairs at 2.30 and fell into a taxi are too many to remember.

Not wanting to upset you further - they actually played there three times in a little over a year. They were the first band to play on the opening night (of the Rock Night, not the club) and were very popular hence the invites back. I like to think it was the highlight of their career. I've still got their autographs somewhere - Robert Smith, Tolhurst and Dempsey IIRC.
It was upstairs and had massive banks of speakers to the side of the stage and lots of tubular steel above the dancefloor. Never went other than on rock night but that was usually very popular with around 500 punters . DJ was Stu Smith from Some Kinda Mushroom and he played most of his stock -and promoted the events, booking the bands etc. He once told me that they had lined up The Fall to play but the plug was pulled before it happened

If you've got a time machine, turn it back a decade further and see The Who (a couple of times), Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix at the ABC
