No punches pulled at all.
DA expects to see fitter players and wants to see any loan players brought in used.
If it were my business and I put that amount of money in I would expect more too.
Now for the cold harsh reality of human nature and football.
We are about to witness: fight, flight and adopt - (or a combination of fight and adopt) from our players.
Key Coniderations:
1. Paul Cook's Man Management skills will be placed under immediate and intense pressure.
2. TW and MC wanted the job and were rejected. One wonders how they feel given they were the last to know they were being passed over. PC needs a strong support unit. How will they behave? Will they be passive or active?
3. The players like and respect TW- evidenced by the Goal celebration on Tuesday.
4. Very few Pro clubs actually "physically" train six days a week and a Qualified Physio would 109% warn against over training. Simple logic states more training and more risk of injuries and sprains. A bit of Classroom stuff maybe??
5. Successful clubs are usually happy clubs. Being a disciplinarian ( eg Alex F) requires a track record to command respect. He was almost fired before he succeeded and became a legend. PC is not quite a legend.
6. Players will need to live closer to Chesterfield. Six day weeks will make us less appealing to some new players. We need to attract talent as well as fitness and determination.
I think the interview with Rob makes pretty clear that PC sold himself very well to DA well in the interview. The Accy performance against us was also a clincher. Mmm!
Credit to Dave for acting, making a bold, very high risk decision and doing something. Is PC the right choice? Some would say its hunch and a punt! Lets see shall we!! Good talkers don't always make good doers.
Welcome to CFC Paul. I genuinely hope you can "walk your talk" and I wish you well. The fans expect:)
Final Note:
A. I think man management, intelligence, formation and tactics are just as important as fitness. Fitness is a prerequisite
B. CFC fans deserve better and more consistent communication from DA, CT and the new man. Long quiet spells allow the paying fan to fester. Media was much better under young Adam I felt.
C. Many good clubs have Chairman and (where they exist) CEO who talk to the fans every week. This was happening well but has subsided. The fan is the customer and even if we not paying enough to make a profit or even to break even just now, the fans are the ultimate gateway to revenue. Respect them ALWAYS! Get communicating again Dave and Chris. Good luck:)
