I'd just like to point out that Yorkshire haven't lost a County Championship game this season, plenty of frustrating lousy weather affected draws though!!!! And like I've said many times on this thread Derbys can have the title willingly as long as we follow you up. What does make it sweeter is the fact that the Lankies have done exactly what we did by winning the title one year and screwing it up completely the following year and getting relegated. (Any comparisons with Town last season are purely by accident!)

I would like to point out thst Derbyshire were also affected by the weather in several matches when in a good position

Leicestershire away in particular.

As coach Karl Kriken pointed out all Derbyshires victories have been by bowling sides out twice some inside three days when

weather affected and not having to rely on contrived declaration victories

Wonder who he was talking about with that statement?

Was there many there in the end?

For Derby not a bad attendance. I think some of the football rent a crowd turned up chanting anti Nottingham chants

Not as many as there should have been given the importance and pricing of the game (there was voucher in the Derby Telegraph to get in for a quid in addition to other promotions).

Quite a few familiar faces on Sky's coverage today, Tim: you were the one with the knitting - right?

Seriously though, a fantastic afternoon to cap a fantastic season - and what a way to finish it!

I'd hope we'll hear a few choruses of 'Derbyshire' at our game tomorrow...and is it just me, but was there far more emphasis on the county rather than the city name on today's commentary?

Maybe a few well aimed e-mails had the required effect.

Still far to many especially in the trophy presentation part and topped off with Willis saying we were 2nd 11 champions more than once...the utter tool!!

I'm sure Sky only keep him on on the offchance he'll say something daft. Struck me a while ago that some wiring might have gone wrong in the loft, and I find him a bit "difficult" to watch, sometimes, for that.

Heard that too, Jon, but put it down to clumsy unprofessionalism rather than a genuine sneer.

And we have to remember, though the 'rare success for little Derbyshire' stuff grates the truth is it's pretty accurate.

Ah well, onwards and upwards and hopefully we'll put a few more elitist noses out of joint next season.

(As i work in Nottingham i'd love it (© Kevin Keegan) if we did the biz at TB!)

Tap me on the shoulder sometime 'Johnny', and i'll tell thee a tale about your uncle's gaff!

(Assuming this isn't 'Uncle' in the 'Carlsberg' sense, of course.)

Not sure it was particularly well thought out to have the trophy presented by the Notts chairman or whoever he was. I know he has an ECB role but he was rightly booed!

Have to say, he took it in the correct spirit though, with a wry smile.

Not in the slightest, Geoff is my Father's Brother! Family photos to prove it is necessary!

No need, pal.

I'm happy to take most folk at face value, but in the 'odd' case...

Anyway, i meant what i said about tapping me on the shoulder at some point.

Infact you can buy me a pint in the Park when we kick your asses again next summer!

Good old fashioned final ball finish to today's game.

Interesting 24 hours for Hants but, they appear to have this one day stuff buttoned down.

May as well carry this thread on and use it for Englands winter travels. Think their first T20 world cup game is tomorrow whilst KP is left out of the squad to tour India....Joe Root and Nick Compton make it in.

England Test squad for India: Alastair Cook (Essex, capt), James Anderson (Lancashire), Jonny Bairstow (Yorkshire), Ian Bell (Warwickshire), Tim Bresnan (Yorkshire), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Nick Compton (Somerset), Steven Finn (Middlesex), Graham Onions (Durham), Eoin Morgan (Middlesex), Monty Panesar (Sussex), Samit Patel (Nottinghamshire), Matt Prior (Sussex, wk), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Graeme Swann (Nottinghamshire), Jonathan Trott (Warwickshire).
