Minimum overs shouldnt be an issue as Kent will get through them sharpish so basically we need to bat til 5:30pm.

I predict a few changes of gloves for the batsmen and maybe an injury or two!! ;) If they are going to the take the urine getting Tredwell to play the least we can do is take the urine with timewasting.

Not looking good now, although pleasingly Hampshire are about out of it.

Looking like it's gonna go down to a final game shootout between ourselves and Kent.

Although it would still be a successful season by our standards, and given the turmoil of recent years, I will feel thoroughly deflated if we don't manage to stumble across the line.

Edit- How many bt/bw points have Hampshire picked up btw Jon?

If they lose, which at 9 down needing 185 to win looks likely, they will get 4 points, 3 for bowling Essex out then 1 batting point.

You can see a live table here :-
http://www.espncrici...iew=pointstable

The points on this include the first innings bonus points and then will update with the win\draw points shortly after the game ends.

Well at least Hampshire are out of it.

Even if we lose which I am going to presume is inevitable and hope to be proved wrong, we are top and the other two are away at Essex and Glamorgan.

Still a good performance playing 12 men and the ECB today.

Looking at the weather forecasts, rain predicted for Tues,Thurs and Friday.

However we achieve it (or not as it may transpire), I just hope we get that little bit of luck.

To be honest, rain is not necessarily what we want as it tends to lead to manufactured results and with Glamorgan having nothing to play for other than Robert Croft's last game, who knows what would happen. Remember ten Doeschate for Essex at Derby about 3 years ago??

Derbyshire lost so all set up for an interesting final week!! Got shafted a couple of times with returning England players but batting has been poor bar the stand between Madsen and Poynton the other week.

6 points clear of Kent - we're still in the box seat I suppose.

I have a gut feel however that Yorks will struggle in Essex (please play Masters) but the pikeys will win in Wales.

At least its in our own hands which i suppose is all we can ask at this stage.

Fair point westbars, but even an old cynic like me that this year would be different....

They have surprised me all season, maybe just maybe they will do again and gain promotion.

Genuine question

If Treadwell had been a Derbyshire player would we have got the decision from the ECB OR am I just paranoid

Not being paranoid. Would we féck.

Id love it to be ourselves and Kent that went up.

No Hampshire, no Yarkshire, that would really wind the ECB up.

I'm more inclined to go with us and porkshire going up its been a hard choice in my head what with Yorkshire and the games they have been given a chance in with declarations (formerly known as match fixing - ask the Pakistanis) and the ECB allowing tredwell to play just shows how the top level at this sport needs to change to make it an even playing field before the teams even play. And I seen you on about Cuckney earlier I have played up there a few times it's a cracking set up and some of the juniors will be county championship players mark my word, they got lucky with grants but they still had to make it work and they are running it all very well, Creswell CC have formed again and in 3 years have got from the bottom division in the notts league to division 3 and if they win or draw Sunday they go up again to league 2-so watch this space with them to.

Good points Shaun.

My old man used to go and watch England on a regular basis until Derbyshire thrashed Surrey in three days at Derby some years ago. That did not sit well with the then Captain of Surrey and England Alec Stewart and proptly reported us to his Dad at the ECB about our pitch and even though one of our guys scored a century and over 340 runs they decided to dock us our win points and fine us!!

Dad never went to an England game again and still grumbles when he heres Stewart on the TV/Radio.

Shocking truly shocking the Treadwell affair just shows NOTHING HAS CHANGED!!!

To an extent Durham used to be treated the same way as us with the ECB looking down their noses at them until they got money from a big backer, now look at them.

Reading on the derbyshire mb someone who was there said jones knocked the bails off without having the ball in his hands.

Jones did not appeal apparently but the other fielders did and hey ho whats a little detail like that to spoil another

derbyshire wicket going down.
