What a performance 13 MOTMs today I don't know about Kovacs crying, I could have shed a tear

I felt so sorry for the lads today, what a superb performance, they kept their calm, composure and professionalism in what can only be described as trying times. At best we deserved all three points, at worst a draw.

We needed a big performance today and we got it, it's just a shame the result didn't go our way, we certainly deserved it.

Performances like that make you proud to be a Spireite.

Totally agree; I've not been watching Town for many years like some, but I can't imagine a Chesterfield team has often, if ever, prooduced such a superb, skilful, fighting performance as that. IF these lads can carry on like this, we are not yet out of contention for the play-offs. I know it's asking a lot, but with great support like today (apart from the disgraceful substitution boos), they might just be able to pull it off.

Credit to Southend as well who also wanted to play and get on with the game.

totally agree. I felt so proud today when we scored, and even though we lost we still played a great game and like u said, we deserved 3 points today, we didn't deserve to lose. At least we only lost by a gap of one goal.

Definitely feeling proud to be a chesterfield supporter tonight and so should all other fans.

Good point mate, I also noticed that a few of the Southend players came up to the Kop and applauded at the final whistle - nice to see that sort of sportsmanship.

Some of the best football we've played in years, and a really gutsy performance as well as skillful. It makes you wonder if we were watching the best option for the midfield/attack, and whether playing the Chief is really the masterstroke we thought it was. Certainly the Southend defence were all at sea with the sheer pace of our attacking, which is something you don't see too often. Perhaps against a defence with more pace the Chief comes into his own, but it makes you wonder. I really couldn't see how we were going to find an outlet for high balls upfield, but in the first half all Rochey's kicks were aimed at Mark Allott on the right wing, and boy, did he deal with them. He must have won virtually every header.
It's just a shame that such a wonderful performance is overshadowed by the boo-boys and, in particular, the refereeing. I honestly think that without that ridiculous sending off the score would have been about 4-1 - and that's giving them the benefit of the doubt.
Still, if we have to lose I'm glad it was Southend. They stuck by us in the Brown years and came today to make a match of it rather than just kill off the game.

Cracking point H. I've seen Hally play 'up front' at Bristol City and again today and he looks a totally different player, and more to the point, we look a totally different team.

As I said earlier this week, losing the Chief is a big blow, but as a result, we might get out of the easy ball option to the big man.

Definately Sophs, there lads appreciated the fact that even though we looked down and out at 2-1 (I thought we were going to get battered then...) we fought back.

All our lads deserved the win today.
