So, the Directors at Forest are looking for a replacement for Megson. They ask each of the players who they would recommend based on who they've played under before, and Sammy without hesitation says Roy MacFarland. Should we be worried?

I'm embarrassed by the actions of those who run my club.

Crossed my mind but the Derby connection might put them off.

To be perfectly honest why the Fck would they ask Clingan? He's hardly had a lot to choose from!!!

They've F'ed about with some dodgy appointments at Forest since Frank Clark was sacked, Bassett, Atkinson, Platt, Kinnear and to a lesser extent Megson, now's the time for them to install a Forest legend who knows what the Club is about.

Not very good for our supurb management team when someone are questioning if Nottingham Forest are after them, they are Chesterfield through and through.

Roy has worked wonders for our club and will continue to do so until he retires - so he says to live abroad.

So why should we be worried

Can't see Mark Arthur allowing Roy to nip over to Majorca at the weekend!

Roy said he wouldn't go to Derby, so why would he decide to go the Forest who aren't the best in this league

Yes we're linked to him strongly along with Penney and young Clough.

i'd just like your thoughts on Megson going and the rumours surrounding ol Roy to the CG.

Very disappointed with Megson going. He was doing a cracking job! :) As the old gag goes, he promised to get you out of this division, he just never said in which direction.

I live in Nottingham and I have to say that there haven't been many tears shed over his departure have there? Certainly not south of the river anyway. It was inevitable wasn't it? I couldn't think what your chairman was thinking when he came out with that rubbish about backing him for another two years. Maybe he meant two weeks. So thats another manager thats arrived, loosed off a big wad of cash and then cleared off. You should really stop hiring these guys.

As for potential targets, you can keep your grubby hands off our pair. They are very happy here thank you. To be honest, I don't think that Roy needs the pressure at this stage in his career. He reckons that he's only sticking around for a couple more years before he retires to his gaff in majorca.

Is Clough really the answer for you? I don't think that hiring a man on the basis that his Dad was good at the job is sound business. Mind you, you have tried experienced managers and look where that got you! Maybe a young manager trying to make it in the league is what you need. I understand that David Platt is available.
These pretzels are making me thirsty!

yes we loved it Megson leaving it only took his home number getting shared around the city ground :)

its really 50/50 with Clough and Penney to be honest but we have been strongly linked with Laws and Roy aswell as the other tripe Pleat,Reid etc which always seems to go around.

I agree with you 100% on clough, but alot want him.

Clough would be a risky move IMHO. No league managing experience, thrown into a club who's fans expect success now.

After 4/5 bad games you lot would be after his head.

Funnily enough, I mentioned Laws to a mate last night. My argument is that you need a manager who knows how to do it AT THIS LEVEL. There is little point in you getting a manager with Premiership experience because, guess what, you're not up there. Football in league 1 is a whole different kettle of fish and I reckon you need a man who knows his onions. Getting Sturrock did the dee dahs no harm at all! Of course, Laws also has the advantage of being an old boy which always helps with the fans.

You need to steer clear of the usual names on merryground like Reid and Pleat. I never trust a manager with too many media mates, like the two that you mention. You always have to be suspicious whether they got the job because they're any good for it or just because Chris Kamara or Andy Grey think that they're a good lad.

Nottingham Forest Chairman Nigel Doughty has revealed he is unlikely to appoint a long-term successor to Gary Megson until the summer.

Megson departed the Club yesterday and Ian McParland and Frank Barlow have been handed control of first team affairs on a caretaker basis, starting with tomorrow's trip to Port Vale.

Forest have already received a flood of interest in the managerial vacancy but Mr. Doughty will not be rushed into making an appointment.

He told Forest World: "It's difficult to envisage a situation where we'll be able to recruit a new manager before the summer.

"Anybody who is capable or successful is probably engaged with their own club at the moment as the season reaches its climax.

"In a way you always want to recruit at the best time for you and to be honest this isn't the best time. I think we will monitor the situation on a week-by-week basis but our intention is to recruit in the summer.

"In the short period since Gary's departure, Mark Arthur's phone and my phone has not stopped ringing.

"The quality of people who have expressed an interest either through their advisors or people close to them has surprised me.

"I'm very encouraged but I think the reason for that is quite clear - we have a wonderful football club with a wonderful fan base, we have no debt, we have a terrific Academy and I think people can see there is a squad of players that is ready for take off."

Mr. Doughty, who spoke to the Forest players and coaching staff before training this morning, also paid tribute to Megson, whose 13-month reign came to an end yesterday afternoon.

"I think Gary has acted very honourably and with great integrity," he added.

"He felt he was becoming part of the problem at the Club rather than part of the solution.

"I would like to take this opportunity to wish him all the best for the future."

For the first time ever our chairman isn't going to rush into anything which is really interesting!

People don't like Roy at Forest after seeing what people think of him saying you would want Big Nose Roy McFarland

Roy wont go to you anyway

Bev, you want a good younger manager to take you back to former glories, it is a real shame to see a big club languishing at these levels.

I also wish we had a chairman like yours - he has made you debt free, subsidises the running costs and gives the manager money to spend. That side must be heaven compared with what we have.

Bob

Bob

My wish was always to see the club in the Championship before I die but they have let me down
