The team have miised him but the person that has missed him the most is Roche. When Blathers plays he takes the decisions for Roche when Blathers isn't there Roche doesn't know whether to come or stay

Absolutely right Ernie; now I blamed Rochey totally for the goal, but my mate said that he wouldn't have tried to get that cross if Blathers had been there because he'd have known Blathers would have dealt with it. I think he's right, but I still blame Roche because he was the senior player in the box and he decided to go for it so he should have dealt with it when he got there, but it does make things simpler for him when Blathers is there. We really REALLY need him on Saturday.

So, you would put him straight back in against the Sarfend front two?.

If he's fit and ready I'd put him in no problem, why wouldn't you?

Are you lot mad!!! Bringing him straight back, he'll at least be very rusty and will struggle to keep the pace against the league leaders! THIS IS DEFINATELY NOT THE GAME TO BRING HIM BACK IN! (NOT FROM THE START ANYWAY) - he's never been the quickest at the best of times!
It's can only be good news that he's on his way back, but come on, get real!

Nope, but I don't think it's all that critical because almost all combinations are good enough, except one that includes O'hare. The glaring weakness is in defensive midfield. I personally would like to see a back 3 with Picken and Davies or Bailey as wing backs. My back 3 would be Kovacs, Hazell (captain), Downes, which gives us pace and strength, and in Hazell the best reader of a game and decision maker since Lee Rogers.

If Blathers is fit he will be able to cope with Goater better than any other defender we have in the squad.
This week, I have been mostly... drinking excessively

The defence is not were the problems lie! How many goals in the last say 20 games have we the defence conceded on average per game?

Answer: Not very many!

The defence can cope, like they have done all season. The defence doesn’t leak many but the problem is that we don't score many (hence all the draw games!); we either shore up the defence totally OR we out score what we concede! Even when Blathers & Ruben were playing we still were drawing 1-1 etc! So it's no difference without blathers, I think we are missing Hazel more he reads the game so much better! The defence cope quite well against a very lively Donny team so why can't they do the same against Southend?

Larkin's first touch is sublime - but his shooting & passing (not as bad as the former) let him down big style
Chief - You have to have respect and acknowledge his efforts but it's too predictable and we don't frighten teams with our pace for the forwards.

WE QUITE SIMPLY NEED MORE MOVMENT UPFRONT AND THE CHIEF DOSEN'T GIVE US THIS!

I'm afraid as an attacking force the opposition find us all too easy!!!

Here's the big chance to throw Heath into the pot to see what he's made of alongside Pop Larkin who may be shy on scoring but is the best controller of a ball we've had for years. If this fails we always got Folan............or no I wish I hadn't said that. As we don't know who is where and what on the injury front it is hard to pick the defence and midfield but please give Hall a rest before he grinds to a halt.

As I said Larkin first touch is sublime (if the rest of his game was half that good he'd be at least playing championship football!) but he's with us because he's Colin Larkin ~ and we have to find a goal scorer to go along side him, as he is never going to hit double figures (which even the Chief can manage!)

Let hope Heath's the one and he starts against Southend.

You have hit the nail on the head brother, it's goals what wins games and unless we bring someone in who can score these goals we will im affraid fail this season to make the playoff's.

Problem is, we are competing against three quarters of the football league to bring in a player like this!! We are not the only side who are looking for someone who can score goals and the problem is that players like that, players with a track record of scoring, are not normally available for nowt!!
