Unfortunately your average jo who goes to matches is watching other sides, because yet again it would appear that we have no ambition other than staying up.
Thats the reason we are averaging less than last year, people in town who like the odd game a season, wont watch us, because they know we lack ambition.
All the interviews the players have given this year, they have played down our play off hopes, never even mentioned automatic promotion!
Small club, no money, blah blah blah, unfortuneately breeds small thinking, and until we change the attitude at those who run the club, you have no chance of getting people through the turnstiles.
Once again we are at the business end of the season, and we cant apparently hack it.
Next year at this time even if we are top 5, the attendances wont probably be any higher, due to the fact, the fans have seen it all before, an will be waiting for the drop in form to come.
Please dont be fooled into thinking a new ground will make it all better, if the football is crap, jo bloggs will still not attend.

And you need to do the sums. People keep saying we cant afford to go up, etc etc, maybe we cant, but neither can we afford to stay where we are.
Promotion would bring 3,000 season ticket sales, lets say they are £440s each, thats £1,320000s.
the aveage away attendance would be 2,000 at say £20s each, thats £920,000s,
Plus tv money advertising etc, thats 2 million more in the clubs coffers, now do you think we still cant afford to go up?

Agreed, if people from town cant be bothered coming to games, just give the ground space to the visitors, then ensuring we make even more money.

One question. Who suggested that we couldn't aford to go up? You started a thread about a 'conspiracy' then proceeded to disprove its validity without anyone else suggesting that it might have any. I don't think that anyone else who has posted on this thread has suggested that the 'conspiracy' is anything other than complete tosh.
Can someone clear this up. Am I confused, or is Hoare (400)?

Apolagies, the conspiracy theory is what the stay aways or, occasional fans use as there excuse for not attending. Lots of occasional supporters are still very suspicious of Chesterfield fc, new broom or not.
My thoughts are, we dont have the infastructure at the club to deal with promotion, could be wrong, hope so.
Heres hoping for at least 6,000 n Saturday.

Go in pubs around town, satdi night, especially after a defeat, and you will hear the diferent theories mentioned. Dont forget a lot of people didnt want to believe the worst about Brown until it was nealy to late.
And if people around town werent sceptical about the club, then why arent we averaging gates more this season, when we are higher up the league and playing better football. Whatever you believe, there is some reason, why Chesterfield folk dont come to Saltergate.
I dont believe in the conspiracy theory, but there has to be a reason why attendances ar poor.

Because EVERY time we get a big crowd we cock up big style and the stay away's stay away until they think 'Or go on then I'll give um another go (usally the next time we play a decent team and we are still doing well)'

Top crowd this year Huddersfield- superb match won 4-3. (Top for kids sales Bristol won 3-0).
Last year lost to Wednesday but previous season beat them well in front of our best crowd. The best the previous year was West Ham when we took a Premiership side to penalties.
