premature reaction... depends how we fair against the top guns i think, and how quickly the squad can regain fitness... but no doubt the biggest setback for a while tonight....

yea probably said more wisely i think i am just disappointed that we have let more points slip thru our fingers - maybe i should have said that i think there is still hope but we dont look like winning at the moment - creating chances yes but just cant see where our next win is coming from and are more likely to (in fact i think we probably will) finish in bottom half but like marlon said if we do ok against big guns then perhaps theres hope but looking at the form book, not great

without sounding like 'sour grapes', it would help if we could actually have a decent referee and linesmen who actually spot foul play when standing about two yards away- the ref tonight has to top the lot as being the worst of the season..... absolute garbage

they would have been playing against ten men had we had a decent ref- arsenal would have been proud of the performance of the cheat who held his face as if he'd been in a boxing match

would chief have had to go injured if he'd had some protection from that inept official

but agree - it was a night when we were never looking like scoring

Can't blame ref etc for failure to score. Poor resources = small squad = shortage over quality coverage = poor results!
Can we raise our games against big guns. Lets hope so.

How can you blame the ref for are inability to put quality into the box and to make the keeper work, we aint good enough so wake up and smell the coffee!

Thought both sides showed little quality going forward, to often resorting to lumping at big men up front, ,who were dealt with very differently by the ref.

Unfortunately the mistake from Roche in the first half cost us and it was the only time Price kicked it straight.

Thought we started the both halves fairly well, but then faded as we ran out of steam and ideas.

there is no doubt weve had the bottom of the barrel when it comes to officals ,but its no excuse for tonite, and for the last 3 months.

You could tell when they had scored we where just not going to be able to get back into the game....there goaly had only 1 shot to save.
Can't really fault the inexperienced defence tonight the played well......it's the goal scoring end we have problems....until we find some who can put the ball in the back of the net we have shot it.....i doubt we will score more than 10 goals before the end of the season at this rate.

Just a note, Dave Penney on radio reckons they need 55 points this year to be safe! roll on another 7 points!

I thought we played well tonight and I'm suprised at the negativity on this board, it was obvious to me there was only ever going to be one winner if Hurst and Allison had stayed fit enough to stay on.

Ive said recently that we need to play 4 4 2 and Niven should be the one to make way so I was pleasently suprised when I saw how the team lined up. I honestly thought we were by far the better team and played some good stuff up until the fateful substitutions. We were on top so why bring on the striker in poor form, why not bring the new lad on who would surely be chomping at the bit? As for Smith he has been nothing but abject and will happily chase shadows all night, also was anyone else annoyde that Hall was allowed to come so narrow thus allowing us either to have to knock it early from the right or move it over to the left?

Good effort tonight lads, the sad thing is we should have been playing like that from the start of matches during the last 16 games at home at the very least. Felt sorry for Barry as it was an awful mistake that let them in but he redeemed himself by saving the pen. Thought we would kick on after that but we didnt have the quality after the subs were made.

I am honestly not to down hearted, if we continue to play how we started we wont be a million miles away.

Edit: missed NOT out

Spot on. The defence was solid and we got the ball wide often (it's just a shame the final ball was lacking). I thought some of the touches Larkin had were outstanding. We didn't look like scoring though and was disappointed not to see Heath given a go instead of Folan, as we weren't lumping it up at every opportunity. The build ups were patient.

It's a shame it was a keeping error for their goal, but, made up for it with the penalty save. A draw would have been fair, but, hey these results happen. On tonight'd performance, we are TOO GOOD to go down this year!!!
