so everyone hammered me last time I came on and said I'd heard something fishy was going on. Explain this 1. Our best two strikers, who've got 15 goals between this season, aswell as numerous assists. Sit out for someone who's not scored all year. Yeah of course the board want us to go up. What did I tell you?

AND one of those "best two strikers" missed yet another golden opportunity according to the reports. How long is it since "one of the best two strikers" scored - 4 months?

take larkin out of the team and we would be looking at being 15-20 points worse off the amount of assists he makes is unreal, maybe the guy hasnt scored much but his contribution is invaluable

Spireiteblue - you are absolutely correct but a striker is judged by the goals he scores.

Larkin would be in my team every time as long as he is fully fit - but not as one of the main strikers.

I'd play him instead of Hurst or Hall. Trouble is we have had a very strong midfield all season, been relatively injury free in this department as well, and it would be difficult to drop anybody in preference to Larkin - for me though it would be Larkin instead of Hurst.

Our biggest failing this season has been the lack of a natural goalscorer. The Chief has been good in dead-ball type situations or when getting on to the end of a very accurate cross - but he is no longer a predator. Larkin's missed far too many chances to be classed as a natural goalscorer, Tcham's not been given a chance, Folan has but no goals.

Let's hope Heath is the bees knees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had some laughs about CFC related conspiracy theories, but no more so than at last year's AGM when a guy stood up and directed a question at Roy Mac, I'll paraphrase for you:-

Roy, we've had some bad refs up here of late, do you think the FA are trying to get us relegated this season because of how lightly we got off a couple of years back when they investigated us?

What planet are these 'people' on?

Get real.

When Morinho rotates his strikers, and Crespo get benched for a game, is there a massive conspiracy theory that Morinho's hand has been forced and that infact Roman doesn't want to win the Premiership?

Ok we're not Chelsea but you get my point.

Think your point is somewhat devalued by the fact that Chelsea can bring in tried and tested international replacements when players need a rest. Our squad has no such depth.

If it is true that the Board is picking the team then I hope it is the CFSS one- I quite fancy a run-out on Saturday!

Apparently the CFSS board were going to pick the team but the CFC board said no and CFSS had to back down.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

I've been regaining my fitness gradually as well Pete, if Reuben is still injured I'll play at centre half

(oh and can you have a word with the main selector, I wouldn't mind being captain, and Penalty taker)
This week, I have been mostly... drinking excessively

Pathetic post yet again. I am getting fed up of reading posts from negative people just becuase we have lost a game and drawn a few. I could understand it if we had spent a few quid in the transfer window.

Whilst I accept there's a tendency to over-react -we're football fans for God's sake - I wonder if you're missing the point here. Just because we have spent no money in the transfer window, does that mean we should not voice opinions? As for drawing a few, I fear we'll acknowledge that record unbeated run of ours will see us miss out on the play-offs.

Raise your sights man. A bit of self-belief can go a long way. As my old Sales Director used to say:"If you think you can, you will. If you think you can't, then you won't." I'm brassed of this over-achieving spin, it's little more than a ready made excuse for the inevitable de-railment.

Raise your sights Man !! I am the most positive person on here, its all the negtivity on here that bothers me. I still think we will make the playoffs, we are difficult to beat, but the fact is if we get 2 or 3 injuries to key players we are in a mess and so we should applaud the fact that we are where we are today. Every single fan on here would have taken 7th place at the start of the season, those who say otherwise are liars !!

The first post on this topic accused the board of playing folan because we didn't want to go up. We can do without Bunkum like that. Do you think Roy, one of the greatest and hardest centre halfs this country has every produced would agree to that, he would be off to Derby in a flash.

As for this over achieving spin, its not spin its a fact !! We are over achieving, just like Wigan are in the premiership. Go onto Hartlepools site and look at there squad, they have about 35 players we have about 20. We have also had a huge amount of luck in terms of injuries, apart from Bailey we haven't really had a long term injury.

Would I be happy finishing 7th, if I am honest yes I would, it would be a sucessful season. Would I be happy finishing 7th next season, no I wouldn't I would want promotion.

You say you're positive but then give a raft of reasons why we should accept mediocrity. I fully accept RM has assembled a competitive (if small) squad and I applaud him for that. However, sometimes you have to grasp an opportunity even if it comes as something of an unexpected surprise. I just feel we have reached a plateau as a result of a lack of self belief. At the start of the season we'd have thought it was some sort of dream if we were to finish seventh, but we should not be happy finishing seventh having seen how well we stack up in this league.

I do not believe we're deliberately self-destructing, but we are in danger of finishing as also rans largely because we believe that should be the limit of our expectations. I don't feel finishing seventh is a successful season, it's a missed opportunity. As for talk of a promotion push next season, why not go flat out NOW, such a chance may be a long time coming our way again.

Oh and talking of small squads achieving great things, wasn't a certain Roy MacFarland a member of Derby's league championship winning side that used only 13 players in a season...?
